Knowledge and Attitudes of a Group of Dental Students in Turkey About Molar Incisor Hypomineralization.

BACKGROUND This study aimed to evaluate the knowledge and attitudes of 4th- and 5th-year students of Dicle University Faculty of Dentistry (Diyarbakır) about molar incisor hypomineralization (MIH). MATERIAL AND METHODS The questionnaires previously used in other countries were modified and the questionnaire forms consisting of 23 questions were distributed to the students online. The results of the analysis are presented as frequencies.

Investigation of the Clinical Effects of Peri-Implant Gingival Morphology on Tissue Health.

This study aims to determine the gingival phenotype around dental implants and the clinical evaluation of the existing phenotype in relation to the tissue health around the implant. Included were 202 dental implants applied to 60 individuals who applied to our service and had at least 1 implant in the mouth, whose prosthetic restoration was completed at least 1 year ago. The effects of keratinized mucosa width (KMW) and gingival thickness (GT), which form the gingival phenotype, on clinical periodontal parameters were evaluated with the obtained data.

Anatomical assessment of the trabecular structure of the alveolar bone in periodontal disease by fractal analysis method.

Background: Early diagnosis and treatment of periodontitis, which can cause loss of bone support of the teeth, is of great importance. The use of fractal analysis method is being investigated in order to differentiate periodontal disease radiographically. Fractal analysis presents the degree of complexity in the structure of fractal objects as a numerical data, and has been used to measure changes in trabecular bone.

Influence of different cavity preparation designs on fracture resistance of onlay and overlay restorations using different CAD/CAM materials.

Purpose: To evaluate fracture strength of different preparation designed onlay and overlay restorations produced by Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAD/CAM) and three different new ceramic-polymer blocks.

Methods: Ninety-one extracted human mandibular molars were used in this study. Preparations were made as (1) Only functional cusps reduction, (2) Only functional cusps reduction+rounded shoulder finish line, (3) All cusps reduction, or (4) All cusps reduction+rounded shoulder finish line.

Amelogenesis Imperfecta: Rehabilitation and Brainstorming on the Treatment Outcome after the First Year.

Amelogenesis imperfecta (AI) affects enamel on primary and permanent dentition. This hereditary disorder is characterized by loss of enamel, poor esthetics, and hypersensitivity. Functional and cosmetic rehabilitation is challenging with variety of treatment options.

Minimally Invasive Plate Osteosynthesis in Open Pediatric Tibial Fractures.

Objectives: The aim of this study is to investigate the effectiveness and reliability of limited-contact locking plates in minimally invasive percutaneous osteosynthesis (MIPO) of the lateral tibia.

Design: A retrospective study.

Patients And Methods: The retrospective study included 14 patients who were operatively treated with an MIPO technique due to open tibial fractures between 2006 and 2012.

Cone-beam dental computerized tomography for evaluating changes of aging in the dimensions central superior incisor root canals.

Objectives: Cone-beam dental computerize tomography (CBCT), a noninvasive imaging method, was used to image the pulp-dentin complex. Pulp changes histologically with aging. While many studies have investigated the histological changes in pulp, few studies have focused on the changes in the shape of the root canals.

Denture barcoding: a new horizon.

Labelled dentures can be important in identifying people who have lost their memory or in identifying the bodies of those who have died in disasters. Forensic dentistry has long considered marking dentures, although no standardised method has been developed. Of the many options considered, none maintain the marking after the dentures break or are altered in occurrences such as plane crashes, which can result in a marked increase in temperature.

A technique for fabrication of an interim ocular prosthesis.

Several ocular and orbital disorders require surgical intervention that may result in ocular defects. Immediate intervention is required to preserve the anophthalmic socket size and prevent scar tissue contractures that may follow surgery. Unfortunately, immediate fitting of an anophthalmic socket with an artificial eye may not always be possible, and a delayed prosthesis delivery may result in settling and sinking of the prosthesis into the socket, therefore requiring orbital cavity conformation.

The contribution to success of various methods of treatment of temporomandibular joint ankylosis (a statistical study containing 24 cases).

Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) ankylosis is an important joint disorder which, in addition to emerging through trauma, can also arise as a result of local and systemic infections. TMJ ankylosis which develops in childhood in particular has its own characteristics. Despite the existence of different views on the treatment of TMJ ankylosis, various techniques have been defined, and three basic techniques are currently employed: gap arthroplasty, interpositional arthroplasty and joint reconstruction.

Congenital alveolar synechiae - a case report.

Congenital alveolar synechiae is rarely seen as an isolated disease. It is generally observed together with various syndromes such as Van der Woude and cleft palate lateral alveolar synechiae syndrome, and is concomitant with other anomalies in the maxillofacial or other regions of the body. Prior to this case report , eight cases of isolated congenital alveolar synechiae have been reported.
