Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Faculty of Dental Sciences, Dharamsinh Desai University, Nadiad, Gujarat, India.

Mucormycosis is a modern-day lifestyle disease that has burst into the health-care scenario. It is an opportunistic fungal infection that proliferates into the immunocompromised host by invasion of the fungus into the paranasal sinuses, thereby invading the palate, maxilla, and orbit. Left untreated it invades the cranial components such as cavernous sinus, skull base, and brain.

Variable and low oral bioavailability (4-11%) of lumefantrine (LUF), an anti-malarial agent, is characterized by very low solubility in aqueous vehicle. Thus, the present study was intended to formulate lyophilized nanosuspensions of LUF to resolve its solubility issues for the improvement of oral bioavailability. A three level 3 factorial design was applied to analyze the influence of independent variables, concentration of polysorbate 80 (X) and sonication time (X) on the responses for dependent variables, particle size (Y) and time to 90% release of LUF (t) (Y).

An isotope dilution selective and sensitive high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-ESI-MS/MS) method has been developed for the simultaneous determination of hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ) and ramipril in human plasma through a new concept of periodical polarity switching. Extraction of HCTZ, ramipril and their deuterated analogs as internal standards (ISs) was carried out from 150 μL of human plasma by solid-phase extraction method. Chromatographic separation of analytes was performed on Hypurity C18 (150 mm × 4.

Caspase-1 is a key endoprotease responsible for the post-translational processing of pro-inflammatory cytokines IL-1β, 18 & 33. Excessive secretion of IL-1β leads to numerous inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. Thus caspase-1 inhibition would be considered as an important therapeutic strategy for development of newer anti-inflammatory agents.

Aims: The study aimed to compare the craniofacial features of North Indian patients suffering from obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) to that of normal North Indian population.

Materials And Methods: Selected 25 North Indian subjects (age: 18-65 years) were divided into two groups (OSA group [n = 14] and non-OSA group [n = 9]) according to the results of full night polysomnographic sleep study. Body mass index (BMI), neck circumference (NC), and lateral cephalograms were recorded for each subject in both groups and total 22 parameters of craniofacial anthropometric features were measured on lateral cephalograms for each subject.
