This observational study aims to understand rural-urban differences in telehealth utilization during the early part of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Methods: Individual-level data from the National Health Interview Survey 2020-2021 (age ≥18) were analyzed for this study.

Tryptanthrins as multi-bioactive agents: discovery, diversity distribution and synthesis.

Tryptanthrin and its derivatives, representing a type of alkaloids with indoloquinazoline structures, were first obtained from blue plants and indigo, and then extracted from fungi, marine bacteria and a number of many other natural sources. Various strategies for their chemical synthesis have been reported while tryptanthrin biosynthesis has been less investigated. Management of adult sepsis in resource-limited settings: global expert consensus statements using a Delphi method.

Purpose: To generate consensus and provide expert clinical practice statements for the management of adult sepsis in resource-limited settings.

Methods: An international multidisciplinary Steering Committee with expertise in sepsis management and including a Delphi methodologist was convened by the Asia Pacific Sepsis Alliance (APSA). The committee selected an international panel of clinicians and researchers with expertise in sepsis management.

Global impact of ten-valent and 13-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccines on invasive pneumococcal disease in all ages (the PSERENADE project): a global surveillance analysis.

Background: Pneumococcal conjugate vaccines (PCVs) that are ten-valent (PCV10) and 13-valent (PCV13) became available in 2010. We evaluated their global impact on invasive pneumococcal disease (IPD) incidence in all ages.

Methods: Serotype-specific IPD cases and population denominators were obtained directly from surveillance sites using PCV10 or PCV13 in their national immunisation programmes and with a primary series uptake of at least 50%.

The direct and urinary electrolyte-mediated effects of ambient temperature on population blood pressure: A causal mediation analysis.

High ambient heat can directly influence blood pressure (BP) through the vasodilation of the skin vasculature and indirectly by affecting urinary volume and electrolyte levels. We evaluated the direct and urine electrolyte-mediated effects of ambient temperature on BP. We pooled 5,624 person-visit data from a community-based stepped-wedge randomized control trial in southwest coastal Bangladesh from December 2016 to May 2017.

Factors predicting the mathematics anxiety of adolescents: a structural equation modeling approach.

Introduction: Mathematics anxiety (MA) is a distinct negative emotional state or trait that individuals experience when confronted with mathematical problems in everyday life and academic contexts. This study aims to identify the key predictors of MA among secondary-level students in Bangladesh.

Methods: Utilizing a quantitative cross-sectional research design, data were collected from 486 students across 89 institutions.

Background: Acute kidney injury (AKI) requires continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), which is one of the most important problems in medical and surgical patients. Therefore, it is very important to identify the influencing factors to reduce the dimensions of the problem. This study was conducted to investigate the mortality rate in medical and surgical patients with AKI requiring CRRT treatment.

This study aimed to compare the sociodemographic factors, clinical characteristics, and in-hospital and short-term post-discharge outcomes between COVID-19 patients with new onset hyperglycemia and pre-existing diabetes patients in tertiary care hospitals in Bangladesh.

Methods: A prospective observational study was conducted among adult COVID-19 patients with new onset hyperglycemia or pre-existing diabetes admitted to the COVID-19 unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital between April 2021 and October 2021.

Dengue in Tomorrow: Predictive Insights From ARIMA and SARIMA Models in Bangladesh: A Time Series Analysis.

Backgrounds And Aims: Dengue fever has been a continued public health problem in Bangladesh, with a recent surge in cases. The aim of this study was to train ARIMA and SARIMA models for time series analysis on the monthly prevalence of dengue in Bangladesh and to use these models to forecast the dengue prevalence for the next 12 months.

Methods: This secondary data-based study utilizes AutoRegressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA) and Seasonal AutoRegressive Integrated Moving Average (SARIMA) models to forecast dengue prevalence in Bangladesh.

Anthropometric Measurements in Predicting Haemorrhagic Stroke Among Bangladeshi Population: The MAGPIE Study.

Background: Anthropometric measurements used to predict cardiovascular disease vary worldwide but are mostly derived from those of Caucasian ancestry. We sought to undertake such measurements in the little studied Bangladeshi population.

Methods: The MAGPIE (Multidimensional Approach of Genotype and Phenotype in Stroke Etiology) study is a Bangladeshi stroke case-control study that recruited nationwide between January 2022 and June 2024.

Assessment of sex disparities in prevalence of diagnosed and undiagnosed diabetes mellitus: results from the Bangladesh demographic and health survey data.

Background: The global health concern regarding the low prevalence of diagnosed diabetes mellitus (DDM) is evident, but the prevalence of DDM is increasing. This is attributed to the frequent underestimation of undiagnosed diabetes mellitus (UDM). Given the limited research on this matter in Bangladesh, there is a need to investigate sex differences in both the prevalence and risk factors of DDM among Bangladeshi adults.

Prevalence and predictors of functional gastrointestinal disorder among the undergraduate students of Bangladesh.

Objective: This study aimed to address this knowledge gap by investigating FGID prevalence and its predictors among undergraduate students in Bangladesh.

Design: This cross-sectional study was conducted between 01 August 2023 and 31 January 2024 among 1,019 undergraduate students. Data were collected using a web-based survey containing questions on socio-demographics, the Rome IV questionnaire, the insomnia severity index, the perceived stress scale 4, the patient health questionnaire, and the smartphone addiction scale.

Comparative Efficacy of Endoscopic Versus Open Surgical Techniques in the Management of Gastric Outlet Obstruction: A Systematic Review.

Gastric outlet obstruction (GOO) is a clinical condition that can arise from both benign and malignant causes, requiring effective management strategies to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Traditionally, open surgical techniques like gastrojejunostomy (GJ) have been the standard treatment, but recent advances in minimally invasive procedures, such as endoscopic ultrasound-guided gastroenterostomy (EUS-GE), offer alternative approaches with potentially reduced morbidity. This systematic review compared the efficacy, safety, and clinical outcomes of endoscopic versus open surgical techniques in managing GOO.
