Impact of different glycoprotein IIb/IIIa inhibitor infusion routes on infarct size and microvascular obstruction in patients with high thrombotic risk ST elevation myocardial infarction.

Objective: Current guidelines recommend the use of glycoprotein IIb/IIIa (GpIIb/IIIa) inhibitors in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) only as a bail-out therapy. However, drug penetration to the jeopardised area may not be achieved due to impeded blood flow and increased microvascular resistance. Aim of our study is to investigate the impact of distal intracoronary GpIIb/IIIa inhibitor agent infusion in STEMI patients.

Multimodality Imaging in Cardiomyopathies.

Cardiomyopathy, which is shortly defined as a disease of the myocardium, has a broad definition that includes many different diagnoses. Recent advances in cardiac imaging techniques, including basic and advanced echocardiography, computed tomography, nuclear medicine, and cardiac magnetic resonance, allow for a more accurate evaluation of volumes and thickness of cardiac chambers, systolic and diastolic function of the ventricules, and tissue structure. Multimodality imaging often provides the first clinical suspicion for specific etiologies, especially when the medical and family history is unclear, by identification of red flags of underlying systemic diseases.

Evaluation of neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL), hypoxia-induced factor-1 alpha (HIF-1α) and apelin 13 levels as new potential biomarkers for pulmonary thromboembolism: A prospective clinical study.

Aim: The objective was to evaluate the serum levels of neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL), hypoxia-induced factor-1 alpha (HIF-1α), and apelin 13 in patients with acute pulmonary thromboembolism (PE) and to investigate their diagnostic and prognostic role in PE patients with different mortality risk groups.

Material And Methods: This study was conducted in a tertiary referral center and included 124 subjects with 94 cases of PE and 30 cases of healthy control group. All subjects were 18 years of age or older.

Development and progression of myopia in children during the COVID-19 pandemic in urban area in Turkey.

Can Teicoplanin Be an Effective Choice for Antibiotic-Impregnated Cement Spacer in Two-Stage Revision Total Knee Arthroplasty?

The main purpose of this study was to evaluate the clinical results of two-stage revision total knee arthroplasty using a teicoplanin-impregnated cement spacer for infected primary total knee replacements. Twenty-five patients operated between 2005 and 2012 were included in this study. Influence of Apical Clearance on Mini-Scleral Lens Settling, Clinical Performance, and Corneal Thickness Changes.

Purpose: The purpose of this work was to define the timing and magnitude of scleral contact lens settling, the factors influencing settling, and to examine whether the amount of apical clearance has an impact on clinical performance or is associated with hypoxia-induced corneal changes.

Methods: Eleven patients (22 eyes) with keratoconus were fitted with a mini-scleral lens (Esclera, Brazil). Three different lenses with successively greater sagittal depths were applied to achieve 3 levels of initial apical clearance: 100 to 200 μm (low), 200 to 300 μm (medium), and greater than 300 μm (high).
