Evaluation of nasal mucociliary clearance in patients with psoriasis.

Purpose: Psoriasis is an autoimmune pathology characterized by chronic inflammation with known multiorgan involvement. In the literature, there are few studies investigating the effects of psoriasis on upper respiratory tract mucosa. Our aim in our study was to investigate the possible effect of psoriasis disease severity and duration on nasal mucosa.

Effects of different PCOS phenotypes on placental three-dimensional power Doppler indices and placental volume during the first trimester.

Introduction: The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effects of different polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) phenotypes using first-trimester placental three-dimensional power Doppler indices and placental volume.

Methods: In this prospective case-control study, 170 pregnant women who met the inclusion criteria were divided into five groups according to PCOS phenotype: non-PCOS control (n = 34), PCOS phenotype A (n = 34), PCOS phenotype B (n = 34), PCOS phenotype C (n = 34), and PCOS phenotype D (n = 34). The primary outcomes determined in the present study were the differences in placental volume and placental flow index (FI), vascularization flow index (VFI), vascularization index (VI), and uterine artery pulsatility index (PI) betweenthe PCOS groups and control group.

The relationship between posttonsillectomy bleeding to hemogram and coagulation parameters.

Purpose: Tonsillectomy is a common surgery performed for indications such as chronic tonsilitis, tonsil hypertrophy and obsructive sleep apnea. Although posttonsillectomy bleeding (PTB) is rare and can be controlled with simple interventions in many patients, it is one of the most feared complications of tonsillectomy surgery. In our study, we investigated the effects of changes in hemogram and coagulation values and seasonal effects on PTB.

Evaluation of Altmetric Analysis Scores of the Top 100 Articles on Polycystic Ovary Syndrome Published in the Last 10 Years.

Objective: In the current study, we analyzed the 100 most cited articles with the topic, title, and keywords of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) published in all journals in terms of traditional metrics and the altmetric score (AS).

Methods: The term "polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)" was searched in the Web of Science (WoS) database and filtered for articles published in all journals. Bibliographic data and AS were obtained for 100 highly cited papers from January 2012 to July 2022.

Evaluation of the olfactory bulb volume and morphology in patients with coronavirus disease 2019: can differences create predisposition to anosmia?

Objective: This study aimed to investigate whether the volume and morphology of the olfactory bulb are effective in the occurrence of anosmia in patients after COVID-19 infection.

Methods: The olfactory bulbus volume was calculated by examining the brain magnetic resonance imaging of cases with positive (+) COVID-19 polymerase chain reaction test with and without anosmia. Evaluated magnetic resonance imaging images were the scans of patients before they were infected with COVID-19.

Combination of hyperbaric oxygen and core decompression therapies improve outcomes in the treatment of hip osteonecrosis.

Introduction: To investigate whether combined treatment of hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) and core decompression (CD) result with better outcomes and have an additional influence on health quality scores when compared with HBO alone.

Effect of isotretinoin treatment on the inflammatory markers in patients with acne vulgaris: can monocyte/HDL be a new indicator for inflammatory activity of isotretinoin treatment?

Oral isotretinoin (ISO) can effect markers of inflammation in patients with acne vulgaris. To our knowledge, there are no data on the relationship between ISO and monocyte to HDL cholesterol ratio (MHR). In this study, it is aimed to examine the effect of the ISO treatment on the MHR and other inflammatory markers in patients with acne vulgaris.

Late-onset amyloidosis cutis dyschromica: an unusual case.

Amyloidosis cutis dyschromica (ACD) is a rare form of primary cutaneous amyloidosis. ACD, first described by Morishima in 1970 is characterized by (i) macular, speckled, reticular hyperpigmentation with hypopigmented spots distributed extensively over the body; (ii) little or no pruritus; (iii) prepubertal onset; and (iv) focal subepidermal amyloid deposition. A 49-year-old woman presented with a 20-year history of progressive, asymptomatic, generalized mottled hyper- and hypopigmented macules all over the body.

The prognostic value of tumor budding in patients who had surgery for rectal cancer with and without neoadjuvant therapy.

Background: The aim of this study was to investigate the prognostic value of tumor budding (TB) in rectal cancer patients. TB in the specimens of patients who received neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy was specifically analyzed.

Methods: This study was conducted on rectal cancer patients treated at Dokuz Eylul University Hospital, Turkey, between January 2000 and June 2010.

Systemic oxidative stress in non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy.

Purpose: To investigate whether the serum total oxidant status (TOS), total antioxidant status (TAS), advanced oxidation protein products (AOPP), and thiol parameters could play a role in the pathogenesis of non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NA-AION).

Methods: In this study, 18 newly diagnosed NA-AION patients and 17 healthy subjects (control group) were included. Serum plasma TOS and TAS, AOPP, and thiol parameters were measured by spectrophotometric method and the results were compared.

Frequency and predictors of renal artery stenosis in hypertensive patients undergoing coronary angiography.
