In the era of antimicrobial resistance, phage-antibiotic combinations offer a promising therapeutic option, yet research on their synergy and antagonism is limited. This study aims to assess these interactions, focusing on protein synthesis inhibitors and cell envelope-active agents against multidrug-resistant bacterial strains. We evaluated synergistic and antagonistic interactions in multidrug-resistant , , and strains.

Sporadic bilateral carotid body tumors are a rare paraganglioma of the head and neck that are often asymptomatic and incidentally found during workup for other pathologies. These tumors arise from the chemoreceptor organ located at the carotid bifurcation and can be locally invasive, resulting in the involvement of adjacent neurovascular structures. With the majority of bilateral carotid body tumors having an association with familial syndromes, such as MEN2 or Von Hippel Lindau, the incidence of sporadic bilateral disease is exceedingly rare.

Introduction: Cerebral Embolic Protection Device (CEPD) captures emboli during Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR). With recently published pivotal trials and multiple cohort studies reporting new data, there is a need to re-calibrate available statistical evidence.
Methods: A systematic literature search was conducted across databases from inception till February 2023.

During the pandemic of COVID-19, a novel atypical set of clinical findings was seen among several children with recent or current exposure to the virus. It was termed the "multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children" (MIS-C). Our study used the 2021 National Inpatient Sample to study the associations of sex, race, and age with the incidence of MIS-C among COVID-19-positive children.

Background: Breast Cancer and cardiovascular diseases are amongst the two leading causes of mortality in the United States, and the two conditions are connected in part because of recognized cardiotoxicity of cancer treatments. The aim of this study is to investigate the predictors risk factors for thirty-day readmission in female breast cancer survivors presenting with acute heart failure.
Methods: This is a retrospective cohort study of acute heart failure (AHF) hospitalization in female patients with breast cancer in 2019 using the National Readmission Database (NRD), which is the largest publicly available all-payer inpatient readmission database in the United States.

Introduction: Surgical treatment of bilateral traumatic sternoclavicular (SC) joint dislocations has never been reported in the literature. In the acute setting, posterior dislocation can present with a host of comorbidities due to structures that lie in close proximity posterior to the medial clavicle.
Case Report: This study presents a case of bilateral traumatic posterior SC joint dislocation with associated brachiocephalic injury that was treated with open reduction and surgical stabilization.

Despite the advent of newer stents, in-stent restenosis has been a persistent and formidable challenge. Trials have demonstrated the superiority of drug-coated balloons over plain old balloon angioplasty. A recent AGENT IDE PRESTO (Prevention of REStenosis with Tranilast and its Outcomes) trial highlighted the need for a more comprehensive understanding; therefore, we conducted a meta-analysis to elucidate their respective clinical outcomes.

Breast carcinoma metastasis to the uterine cervix is a rare occurrence with diagnostic intricacies. We present a case of a 38-year-old woman diagnosed with bilateral stages IIIA and IIIB invasive ductal carcinoma of the breast who developed heavy vaginal bleeding post-treatment, revealing metastatic involvement of the cervix, confirmed by CT imaging and pathological examination, as the presenting sign of widely metastatic disease. This case underscores the importance of a thorough review of systems and physical exams as well as considering uncommon metastatic sites in breast cancer patients.

Background: Transcatheter patent foramen ovale (PFO) occluder device is a procedure mostly performed to prevent secondary stroke as a result of paradoxical emboli traversing an intracardiac defect into the systemic circulation. The complications and outcomes following the procedure remain poorly studied. We aimed to investigate morbidity and mortality associated with occluder device procedures using hospital frailty index score stratification.

Aims: This study aimed to evaluate the safety of reducing or withdrawing anti-seizure medications (ASMs) in a cohort comprising both adults and children with drug-resistant epilepsy (DRE) undergoing ketogenic diet therapy (KDT).
Methods: We conducted a comprehensive analysis of clinical profiles in adults and children with DRE who had adhered to KDT for at least 6 months. Successful withdrawal or reduction of an ASM was defined as discontinuation or dose reduction without subsequent resumption or increase and without initiation of any new ASM throughout the entire follow-up period.

Recent advancements in drug delivery systems for endocrine disorders have significantly improved patient outcomes by addressing the limitations of traditional methods such as oral tablets and injections. These innovations include non-invasive alternatives like inhaled insulin, which provides rapid absorption and better patient compliance, and robotic pills that deliver drugs directly to specific gastrointestinal sites, enhancing absorption and reducing side effects. Wearable artificial pancreas systems have revolutionized diabetes management by integrating continuous glucose monitoring with insulin pumps to automate blood glucose control.
