Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate factors related to the levels of health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in elderly women based on Wilson and Cleary's HRQoL model.
Methods: This study analyzed data from the eighth Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 2019 on 868 women over the age of 65 years. Based on the HRQoL model, parameters were categorized as personal, environmental, and physiological characteristics; symptom status; functional status; and perception of health status.

Purpose: Nursing students are susceptible to medication safety incidents in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) related to a lack of communication experience. The purpose of the present study was to investigate the impact of a NICU medication safety simulation (NMSS) focusing on communication clarity, patient hand-off confidence, and patient safety competency in senior-year nursing students.
Methods: The study utilized a nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of resistance exercise in comparison with those of common exercise on chronic neck pain (CNP) to provide useful clinical guidelines for reducing pain or increasing cervical range of motion (ROM), upper trapezius tone, disability level, and quality of life (QOL).
Methods: The subjects were randomized into a cervical and scapula-focused resistance exercise group (CSREG, n = 21) or trapezius massage group (TMG, n = 20). All groups received a 4-week, five times per week CSRE or TM program for CNP.

Vestibular neuritis is a common disease of peripheral dizziness. Studies have shown that vestibular rehabilitation exercise (VRE) and proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) are effective to treat the symptoms of vestibular neuritis. However, the effect of VRE and PNF on the balance ability and dizziness in this patient cohort remains unclear.

Objectives: To identify the agreement on Lung CT Screening Reporting and Data System 4X categorization between radiologists and an expert-adjudicated reference standard and to investigate whether training led to improvement of the agreement measures and diagnostic potential for lung cancer.
Methods: Category 4 nodules in the Korean Lung Cancer Screening Project were identified retrospectively, and each 4X nodule was matched with one 4A or 4B nodule. An expert panel re-evaluated the categories and determined the reference standard.

The room temperature storage used for platelets worldwide leads to platelet storage lesion (PSL) and risk of bacterial growth, limiting platelet shelf life and safety in transfusion. Thus, there is a need for an alternative storage method that can serve as effective temperature storage for platelet concentrates (PCs). In the previous investigation, we have shown that N-acetylcysteine (NAC) is a potential candidate for an additive solution to retain platelet characteristics during cold storage for up to 5 days.

In our previous anatomic study, the authors could pull the platysma effectively in the medial direction, lateral direction, or both the medial and lateral directions. In this paper, the authors analyzed the results of our series of modified medial and lateral platysmaplasties, in which the technique was based on Hamra's platysmaplasty, modified in light of Feldman's corset platysmaplasty and Mendelson's concepts. In medial platysmaplasty, subcutaneous dissection was performed from the mandibular border to 2 or 3 finger breadths above the xiphoid process.

Purpose: We investigated the expression of the N-myc and STAT interactor (NMI) protein in invasive ductal carcinoma tissue and estimated its clinicopathologic significance as a prognostic factor. The expression levels and prognostic significance of NMI were also analyzed according to the molecular subgroup of breast cancers.
Methods: Human NMI detection by immunohistochemistry was performed using tissue microarrays of 382 invasive ductal carcinomas.

The aim of this study was to investigate whether it is possible to pull the platysma effectively in the medial or lateral direction (medial platysmaplasty and lateral platysmaplasty) and to explore the anatomical basis of those findings.Six hemifaces from 3 fresh cadavers were dissected. After skin removal, the platysma was pulled upward and in the medial or lateral direction with the ulnar side of the palm.

Preoperative detection of cervical lymph node metastasis in papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) is crucial for determining the surgical strategy to prevent locoregional recurrence of the disease. We identified the cytological predictors of lymph node metastasis in 222 consecutive patients with PTC using fine-needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) of the thyroid. Cervical lymph node metastases occurred in 99 (44.

Background: Trunk-activating exercises for balance are important because trunk weakness is relevant to the functional performance of individuals with stroke. This study aimed to explore the effects of three-dimensional balance training using visual feedback on balance and walking ability in subacute stroke patients.
Methods: Twenty-four participants with subacute stroke were randomly assigned to the experimental or control group.

Background: In South Korea, a few patients with low back pain (LBP) are currently being treated with a combination of traditional Korean medicine (KM) and Western medicine (WM). Although a recent research has reported results regarding patient satisfaction and exploratory effectiveness, evidence of comparative effectiveness still needs to be reviewed. The aim of this study is to evaluate the clinical and cost-effectiveness of KM and WM collaborative treatment (CT) compared with that of sole treatment (ST) for patients with LBP in Korea.
