Background Elastomeric chains are widely used for incisor retraction and space closure. However, the force they exert diminishes over time, and this makes it difficult to determine the actual force transmitted to the dentition. The force decay may also be affected by exposure to saliva, foods, beverages, and prophylactic agents.

The effect of chlorhexidine (CHX) digluconate, Betadine (BET), curcumin (CUR) on gingival wound healing is of interest to dental practitioners. Hence, we studied the average fibroblast viability % for each of the concentrations of CUR, BET and CHX over various time durations. It was found that mean percentage of viability of fibroblasts is high in CUR and low in CHX at all time periods while the mean percentage of viability of fibroblasts in BET 1% was greater than CHX but lower than CUR at all time periods.

Stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), also known as gamma knife surgery (GKS), is a noninvasive procedure for treating tic douloureux (TD) or trigeminal neuralgia (TN). Due to a lack of sufficient evidence regarding the indication of SRS for the treatment of recurrent TD, the present scoping review was conducted to assess the effectiveness of repeated SRS procedures for managing recurrent TD. The literature search was performed from January 2012 to December 2022 on the PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science databases.

Objectives: The presence of red-complex bacteria (RCB) has been associated with the occurrence of not only periodontal disease but also other systemic diseases, thereby potentiating an oral-systemic relationship. This study aimed to explore the levels of periodontal RCB in pregnant preeclamptic women with periodontal disease, potentiating the pathophysiology of a bacterial association in both periodontitis and preeclampsia.

Methods: Six hundred pregnant women (aged 20 to 35 years) in their third trimester were selected and divided into 3 groups comprising a control group (systemically and periodontally healthy pregnant women), group A (preeclamptic women with chronic periodontitis), and group B (preeclamptic women without chronic periodontitis).
