Purpose: Human papillomavirus (HPV) can cause cancers of the genital system, anus/rectum, and oropharynx. Prior research showed that HPV-associated cancer incidence was rising faster in nonmetro than in metro populations. Our study identified which cancers contributed to the widening disparity.

Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) screenings can improve detection and prevent precancerous polyps from becoming malignant tumors. In 2008, the United States Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) updated their policy and no longer recommended that adults over age 75 screen for CRC. We evaluated how this policy update impacted screening behaviors and CRC outcomes in older adults.

Methods: Over 4 days in March 2017, a research team traveled to four rural communities in the Dominican Republic to provide healthcare services. Overall, 90 men and women consented to a voluntary verbal 12-question survey.

The surgical reconstruction of Charcot deformity can be a challenge for foot and ankle surgeons. Consensus is lacking among surgeons regarding the best method of surgical fixation to be used in reconstruction, and clear strong evidence is also lacking in published studies. Arthrodesis of the first metatarsophalangeal joint (MTPJ) has commonly been used for the treatment of a variety of first MTPJ disorders, including hallux valgus. We undertook a systematic review of the electronic databases and other relevant sources to identify material relating to the reduction of the first intermetatarsal angle (IMA) after first MTPJ arthrodesis. Fifteen studies with a total of 701 first MTPJ arthrodesis procedures were identified that met the inclusion criteria.
