Background: Allergic contact dermatitis cannot be reliably differentiated from other forms of spongiotic/eczematous dermatitis by histology alone. Textbooks and recent studies have variably supported the specificity of dermal eosinophils, eosinophilic spongiosis, and Langerhans cell collections, among other features.
Objective: To assess which histopathologic features favor a diagnosis of allergic contact dermatitis.

Background: 2-(Thiocyanomethylthio)benzothiazole (TCMTB) is a fungicide product widely used in the leather industry, particularly since the 1990s. However, reports of allergic contact dermatitis triggered by this chemical are scarce.
Objectives: To investigate three cases of dermatitis following contact with leather products, possibly related to TCMTB.
Background And Aims: Remnants of laundry detergent ingredients are suspected to be in constant contact with the skin. Allergy sufferers need assurance that the chemicals in everyday products do not cause such disruption. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects and tolerability of common laundry detergents on the skin microbiome in individuals with atopic dermatitis.

Background: Soft tissue sarcomas of the extremities (E-STS) are rare and heterogeneous. Treatment combines surgery with preoperative or postoperative radiotherapy (RT) for deep, large, or high-grade tumors. We evaluate the effectiveness and toxicity in E-STS patients treated at our institution from 2015 to 2021.

Introduction: M-pox is a re-emerging pathogen that is spreading rapidly in developing countries, presenting a serious health risk. Data are scarce on M-pox and its determinants in endemic countries such as Cameroon. This study aimed to assess the epidemiological burden and factors linked to the resurgence of M-pox in high-risk communities in Cameroon.

Carvacrol, a phenolic monoterpene found in essential oils of plants of the Lamiaceae family, emerges as an alternative acaricide of plant origin. Its acetylation was proposed to obtain a derivative compound with a better pharmacological profile and lower toxicity to non-target organisms. The present study aimed to assess the preclinical safety of acetylcarvacrol after dermal application in Wistar rats, through the examination of hematological and biochemical parameters, as well as histopathological analysis of the skin, liver and kidney.

Upadacitinib is a systemic Janus kinase inhibitor currently approved for the treatment of atopic dermatitis. Many patients with atopic dermatitis have a concomitant diagnosis of allergic contact dermatitis. The utility of Janus kinase inhibitors for the treatment of allergic contact dermatitis and the effect on patch testing results remains unclear.

Background: To enhance the accuracy of allergen detection in cosmetic compounds, we developed a co-culture system that combines HaCaT keratinocytes (transfected with a luciferase plasmid driven by the AKR1C2 promoter) and THP-1 cells for machine learning applications.
Methods: Following chemical exposure, cell cytotoxicity was assessed using CCK-8 to determine appropriate stimulation concentrations. RNA-Seq was subsequently employed to analyze THP-1 cells, followed by differential expression gene (DEG) analysis and weighted gene co-expression net-work analysis (WGCNA).

Cinnamic acid and its natural derivatives were primarily used in cosmetics as fragrance materials as well as skin and hair conditioners. Nowadays, not only natural but also synthetic cinnamic acid derivatives are used as active ingredients of cosmetic formulations. They still serve as fragrance ingredients but also as active ingredients supporting the treatment of selected dermatoses such as acne vulgaris, atopic dermatitis, and hyperpigmentation.

Background: Skin adhesives containing 2-ocyl cyanoacrylate are a common source of allergic contact dermatitis (ACD) that complicate postoperative wound healing. There are limited studies that describe postoperative cutaneous reactions to skin adhesives and clinical management.
Objectives: To review the incidence, description, and clinical management of surgical site ACD to 2-ocyl cyanoacrylate.

Background: Dysfunction of the skin barrier is regarded as a key event in the initiation and progression of inflammatory skin diseases. In many cases of allergic contact dermatitis (ACD), epidermal-resident memory CD8 T (T) cells play a central role in the immune response to contact allergens. However, if and how allergen-specific CD8 T cells affect the expression of skin barrier molecules is not known.

Objective: To describe features and habits of diaper area care and compare the frequency of diaper dermatitis in infants using cloth diapers with those using disposable diapers.
Methods: Questionnaires were administered to families with infants who had not started potty training, to assess the frequency of diaper rash in two groups: babies who use exclusively cloth diapers (CD), and others with exclusively disposable diapers (DD). The hygiene methods of the perineal region and the skin lesions frequency were evaluated.

Background: The positioning of substances, which are co-sensitizers and/or with a tendency to cross-react, is not considered in the technique when applying patch tests (PT).
Objective: To investigate the interference of the positioning of nickel (Ni), chromium (Cr) and cobalt (Co) in patch tests (PT) results, when applied close or distant from each other.
Methods: PT were performed in patients suspected of allergic contact dermatitis (ACD), using the standard battery (SB), with substances showing a tendency towards cross-react and co-sensitizers applied far apart, and an additional battery (AB) with the metals placed close to each other.

Purpose: Elevated skin pH facilitates the number of pathogenic bacteria increase, leading to the skin barrier dysfunction. This phenomenon is typically observed in individuals with Incontinence-associated dermatitis (IAD), which imposes a substantial physical and psychological burden on the afflicted individuals. We evaluated the association between the development of IAD in community-dwelling women with urinary incontinence and cutaneous urease-producing bacteria, as these bacteria may be involved in elevating skin pH by chemical reaction with urea in urine.

The study investigates the concentration of heavy metals in various lipsticks sold in Ghana and assesses the potential health risks associated with their use. A total of 12 lipstick samples were analyzed using an X-ray fluorescence (XRF) analyzer for metals, including chromium (Cr), manganese (Mn), nickel (Ni), copper (Cu), cadmium (Cd), and lead (Pb). The findings revealed that Cr levels ranged from below detection limits to 2554.

Introduction: Irritant contact dermatitis (ICD) is characterized by direct injury to the epidermal cells, activating the innate immune response. Allergic contact dermatitis (ACD), in contrast, is delineated by a delayed hypersensitivity reaction of type IV. Despite the distinct etiopathogenic mechanisms under-pinning each condition, the differentiation between them presents a significant diagnostic challenge.

Minoxidil is a vasodilator medication known for its ability to promote hair growth. Although it was first introduced as an oral drug to treat hypertension, minoxidil was observed to have the important side-effect of increasing hair growth. This led to the development of a topical formulation as a 2% concentration solution for the treatment of female androgenic alopecia (AGA) and 5% for treating male AGA, which is considered as a first line U.
