Meningothelial hamartoma of scalp mimicking encephalocele in an infant: A case report and review of literature.

An extremely rare benign lesion of the scalp is reported in a 2-month-old infant. The lesion had been present since birth. On examination, a 3 × 4 cm skin-colored soft mass over the occipital midline area was observed.

Global 30-day morbidity and mortality of surgery for perforated peptic ulcer: GRACE study.

Background: There is little international data on morbidity and mortality of surgery for perforated peptic ulcer (PPU). This study aimed to understand the global 30-day morbidity and mortality of patients undergoing surgery for PPU and to identify variables associated with these.

Method: We performed an international study of adults (≥ 18 years) who underwent surgery for PPU from 1st January 2022 to 30th June 2022.

The effect of bioelectric and manual impressions on quality of complete dentures and quality of life: A cross over pilot study.

Purpose: To compare the quality of complete dentures and quality of life of participants rehabilitated by using TENS (Transcutaneous electric nerve stimulation) facilitated impression making with manual impressions.

Material And Methods: Ten completely edentulous participants were enrolled in the crossover, pilot study. Participants were randomized in 2 groups.

Combination HIV prevention packages have reduced HIV incidence and improved HIV-related outcomes among young people. However, there is limited data on how package components interact to promote HIV-related prevention behaviours. We described the uptake of HIV prevention interventions supported by Determined, Resilient, Empowered, AIDS-free, Motivated and Safe (DREAMS) Partnership and assessed the association between uptake and HIV-related behaviours among young people in rural KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.

Varicella zoster virus outbreak in a long-term care unit of a tertiary care hospital in northern India.

Nosocomial outbreak of varicella zoster virus (VZV) has been reported when susceptible individuals encounter a case of chicken pox or shingles. A suspected VZV outbreak was investigated in a 50-bedded in-patient facility of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in a tertiary care multispecialty hospital. A 30-year-old female patient admitted with Pott's spine was clinically diagnosed with chicken pox on 31 December 2022.

"Endless opportunities": A qualitative exploration of facilitators and barriers to scale-up of two-way texting follow-up after voluntary medical male circumcision in Zimbabwe.

In Zimbabwe, the ZAZIC consortium employs two-way, text-based (2wT) follow-up to strengthen post-operative care for voluntary medical male circumcision (VMMC). 2wT scaled nationally with evidence of client support and strengthened follow-up. Patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) remain physically inactive during the day, are deconditioned, and have an impaired health-related quality of life (HRQoL). The role of rehabilitation is not yet defined in OSA, despite proven effective modalities for chronic illnesses like chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. In this prospective study, over a period of one year, 30 individuals with sleep-disordered breathing were included.

Tuberculosis (TB) continues to impose a significant burden on tribal populations in India, a high-risk group for the disease. Despite its preventable and curable nature, TB remains a formidable health challenge for these communities. Prescription-based cost analysis of medicines for cardiovascular risk factors at Indian Council of Medical Research-Rational Use of Medicine Centre Hospitals of India.

Introduction: Uptake of voluntary medical male circumcision (VMMC) remains a challenge in many settings. Innovative implementation strategies are required to scale-up VMMC uptake.

Methodology: RITe was a multi-faceted intervention comprising transport reimbursement (R), intensified health education (IHE) and SMS/Telephone tracing (Te), which increased the uptake of VMMC among uncircumcised men with sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in Malawi.

Comparative evaluation of blind supraglottic airway device insertion versus videolaryngoscope-guided technique in adults undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy.

Objectives: A videolaryngoscope may decrease the high incidence of aberrant positioning of supraglottic airway devices (SAD) inserted with blind techniques. We aimed to compare Igel insertion characteristics between blind and videolaryngoscope-assisted techniques.

Methods: In this study 70 adult patients scheduled for elective laparoscopic cholecystectomy under general anesthesia were randomly divided into blind (Group B,  = 35) and videolaryngoscope-guided (Group V,  = 35) Igel insertion.

Double trouble - dual outflow tract obstruction in congenital heart disease: a case report.

Background: Double chambered right ventricle is a rare congenital heart disease that is characterised by the presence of an anomalous muscle bundle that divides the right ventricle into a low pressure superior (distal) chamber and a high pressure inferior (proximal) chamber. It is found in association with a ventricular septal defect in 90% cases with other associations being tetralogy of Fallot, transposition of great vessels, atrial septal defect and Ebstein's anomaly. On the other hand, subaortic membrane is a form of discrete subaortic stenosis that is characterised by a membranous diaphragm in the subvalvular location of the left ventricular outflow tract.

Evaluation of prescriptions from tertiary care hospitals across India for deviations from treatment guidelines & their potential consequences.

Background Objectives: Irrational prescribing practices have major consequences on patient safety and also increase the economic burden. Real-life examples of impact of irrational prescription have potential to improve prescribing practices. In this context, the present study aimed to capture and evaluate the prevalence of deviations from treatment guidelines in the prescriptions, potential consequence/s of the deviations and corrective actions recommended by clinicians.
