Chronic pulmonary aspergillosis in a patient with hyper-IgE syndrome.

Hyperimmunoglobulin E (IgE) syndrome (HIES) is a rare disease with an unclear prognosis. We report a case of HIES comorbid with chronic pulmonary aspergillosis (CPA). A 19-year-old male was referred to our department with a medical history of bacterial pneumonia and skin infection.

Restrictive ventilatory impairment and thrombosis due to a giant liver cyst.

Most patients with liver cysts are asymptomatic and require no treatment. In this patient with symptoms and restrictive ventilatory impairment, percutaneous needle aspiration with injection of minocycline hydrochloride was effective.

Multiple huge "cluster" and "galaxy" signs on chest radiography in a patient with pulmonary tuberculosis.

A 62-year-old healthy man presented to our hospital due to a persistent fever of up to 38°C for one week. Thoracic computed tomography showed right pleural effusion with multiple large nodules up to 7 cm in diameter composed of numerous discrete small nodules like fireworks, the so-called "cluster" signs. Some of the large nodules had a hyper-dense portion centrally surrounded by partially discrete small nodules, not as densely assembled, suggestive of the "galaxy" sign.
