Objectives: The aim of this study was to investigate the role of lymph node yield (LNY), lymph node ratio (LNR), and neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR) as prognostic factors, their impact on survival in patients with advanced laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC).
Methods: This multicentric retrospective study included 195 patients with clinical N0 advanced laryngeal carcinoma who underwent total laryngectomy and/or total pharyngolaryngectomy over 5 years. The number of lymph nodes extracted (LNY) and the number of positive nodes were counted.

In recent decades, immunotherapy with chimeric antigen receptors (CAR) has revolutionized cancer treatment and given hope where other cancer therapies have failed. CAR-NK cells are NK cells that have been engineered ex vivo with a CAR on the cell membrane with high specificity for specific target antigens of tumor cells. The impressive results of several studies suggest that CAR-NK cell therapy has significant potential and successful performance in cancer treatment.

Hypoxia is a common feature of solid tumors that has previously been linked to resistance to radiotherapy and chemotherapy, and more recently to immunotherapy. In particular, hypoxic tumors exclude T cells and inhibit their activity, suggesting that tumor cells acquire a mechanism to evade T-cell recognition and killing. Our analysis of hypoxic tumors indicates that hypoxia downregulates the expression of MHC class I and its bound peptides (i.

Purpose Of The Review: This narrative review aims to provide an overview of recently completed randomized trials and expert consensus recommendations, and their implications for clinical practice and future trial design in patients with de-novo esophagogastric oligometastatic disease (OMD).
Recent Findings: The IKF-575/RENAISSANCE phase III trial showed no significant overall survival difference between systemic therapy alone and systemic therapy combined with local therapy for patients with gastric or gastroesophageal junction cancer and de-novo OMD, except for patients with retroperitoneal lymph node metastases only. The ESO-Shanghai 13 phase II trial demonstrated superiority of adding local therapy to systemic therapy for progression-free and overall survival in oligometastatic esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.

In cases of large mandibular continuity defects resulting from malignancy resection, the current standard of care involves using patient-specific/custom titanium reconstruction plates along with autogenous grafts (fibula, scapula, or iliac crest segments). However, when grafts are not feasible or desired, only the reconstruction plate is used to bridge the gap. Unfortunately, metal osteosynthesis and reconstruction plates, including titanium, exhibit adverse effects such as stress-shielding and limitations in accurate postoperative irradiation (especially with proton-beam therapy).

Conventional chemotherapy- and radiotherapy-induced cancer senescence, which is characterized by poor proliferation, drug resistance, and senescence-associated secretory phenotype, has gained attention as contributing to cancer relapse and the development of an immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment. However, the association between cancer senescence and anti-tumor immunity is not fully understood. Here, we demonstrate that senescent cancer cells increase the level of PD-L1 by promoting its transcription and glycosylation.

Cervical cancer (CC) is becoming a major health issue globally, and radiotherapy plays a crucial role in its treatment. However, the prognosis of some patients remains poor due to tumor resistance to the therapy. This study aimed to explore whether vitamin D could confer a more radiosensitive phenotype in CC based on our previous findings and detection using the database.

Introduction: The role of postmastectomy radiotherapy (PMRT) in clinical prognostic stage I-III breast cancer patients with positive responses and achieving ypN0 after Neoadjuvant therapy (NAT) is controversial.
Methods: 3557 patients with TNM clinical prognostic stage (AJCC 8th Edition) I-III breast cancer with positive responses and achieving ypN0 following neoadjuvant therapy were selected from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database and followed through the end of 2020. COX proportional hazards models were employed to examine the associations between clinical or pathological parameters and OS.

The key to the treatment of choroidal melanoma (CM) is to improve diagnostic efficiency and find a high-performance treatment to replace the traditional treatment of radiotherapy and enucleation. In this paper, for the first time, long afterglow luminescence material was applied to the integrated diagnosis and treatment of eyes, with its unique advantages in photoluminescence and afterglow luminescence to solve the bottleneck problem of real-time irradiation required for photothermal and photodynamic therapy (PTT and PDT). Based on the excellent photoluminescence and afterglow properties of ZnGaGeO:CrYbEr (ZGGO) nanoparticles, a nanoplatform ZGGO@Au@UiO-66@ZnPc:Dox-FA (GAUZD-FA) for NIR-Ⅱ imaging and triple-synergistic therapy (PTT, PDT and sustained-release drug) was constructed.

Background And Purpose: Free-breathing computed tomography (FBCT) used in treatment planning for lower thoracic (Th8-Th12) spine stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) can cause deviations between planned and irradiated doses due to diaphragm movement (DM). This study analyzed the dosimetric impact of DM on lower thoracic spine SBRT.
Materials And Methods: Data were collected from 19 patients who underwent FBCT and four-dimensional CT (4DCT) during the same session.

Objective: The objective of this study was to discuss the characteristics of intracranial extension in patients with juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibroma (JNA) and propose and an algorithm for its management.
Methods: A retrospective chart review of all patients with JNA who underwent operations between January 2013 and January 2023 was done, and those cases with intracranial extension categorized as stage IIIb, IVa, and IVb according to the Andrews modification of the Fisch staging classification were included in the study. Data were collected about age at presentation, symptoms, radiological findings, routes of intracranial extension, therapeutic management, and follow-up.

Immune checkpoint blockade (ICB) has revolutionized the treatment of many cancers by leveraging the immune system to combat malignancies. However, its efficacy is limited by the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment and other regulatory mechanisms of the immune system. Innate immune modulators (IIMs) provide potent immune activation to complement adaptive immune responses and help overcome resistance to ICB.

Emerging evidence suggests that fusion of cancer cells with leucocytes, such as macrophages, plays a significant role in cancer metastasis and results in tumor hybrid cells that acquire resistance to chemo- and radiation therapy. However, the precise mechanisms behind the leukocyte-cancer cell fusion remain unclear. The present in vitro study explores the presence of fusion between the monocyte cell line (THP-1) and the breast cancer cell line (MCF-7) in relation to the expression of CD36 and phosphatidylserine with and without treatment of these cells with ionizing radiation.

Thorium-227 (Th) is an α-emitting radionuclide currently under investigation for targeted alpha therapy. Available chelators used for this isotope suffer from challenging multistep syntheses. Here, we present the synthesis and preclinical evaluation of a novel bifunctional chelator, SCN-Bn-DOTHOPO, which contains an isothiocyanate group that is suitable for conjugation to biological molecules.
