The work examines the workflow of using commercially available software for electromagnetic modelling and validation of a transceiver array coil operating at 298 MHz for magnetic resonance imaging and spectroscopy at 7 T. The coneshaped, tight-fit parallel transmit head array consists of two rows with eight loop coils per row and transmits two distinct spatial distributions by means of shimming. Considerations for finite-difference time-domain simulation setup and post-processing with circuit-domain co-simulation are examined, as is the generation of virtual observation points suitable for online safety monitoring.

The CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing method is comprised of the guide RNA (gRNA) to target a specific DNA sequence for cleavage and the Cas9 endonuclease for introducing breaks in the double-stranded DNA identified by the gRNA. Co-expression of both a multiplex of HIV-1-specific gRNAs and Cas9 in cells results in the modification and/or excision of the segment of viral DNA, leading to replication-defective virus. In this study, we have personalized the activity of CRISPR/Cas9 by placing the gene encoding Cas9 under the control of a minimal promoter of HIV-1 that is activated by the HIV-1 Tat protein.

We evaluate novel magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and positron emission tomography (PET) quantitative imaging biomarkers and associated multimodality, serial-time-point analysis methodologies, with the ultimate aim of providing clinically feasible, predictive measures for early assessment of response to cancer therapy. The authors present a new computerized scheme to automatically detect lung nodules depicted on computed tomography (CT) images. The procedure is performed in the signed distance field of the CT images. To obtain an accurate signed distance field, CT images are first interpolated linearly along the axial direction to form an isotropic data set.
