We study an older Japanese woman who lived independently with minimal nursing or informal support from others in the rowhouse after the 2011 Fukushima disaster. This case report supports the effectiveness of as a measure of the municipality and offers an evidence-based approach to reconstruction after a disaster. Considering the global population aging and isolation trends, the lesson from this case may apply to other settings beyond disasters.

Design: A vignette-based questionnaire study.
Methods: A questionnaire survey asking nurses their perceptions of clinical practices for the following three vignettes was performed in a community hospital in Japan (120): the control vignettes with an older patient with repeated heart failure who was living alone and the other two with either an absence of relatives or a diagnosis of dementia.
Aims: Some diabetic patients, despite reporting a good perception of their glycemic control, actually show poor control and this misperception might well hinder successful diabetes management. This study aimed to assess patients' self-perception of glycemic control and to clarify factors associated with misperception of glycemic control status.
Methods: Baseline data from a hospital-based prospective cohort of 519 type 2 diabetic patients were analyzed.
