The involvement of the opioidergic system on anxiolytic and antinociceptive responses induced by cholestasis was investigated in cholestatic and addicted mice. Elevated plus-maze and tail-flick devices were used to assess anxiety and pain levels, respectively. The data indicated that induction of cholestasis and injection of opioid drugs including morphine and tramadol enhanced %OAT and %OAE but naloxone reduced %OAT and %OAE in the sham-operated and bile duct ligation (BDL) mice.

Deep annotation of a library of 4-anilinoquin(az)olines led to the identification of 7-iodo-N-(3,4,5-trimethoxyphenyl)quinolin-4-amine 16 as a potent inhibitor (IC =14 nM) of Protein Kinase Novel 3 (PKN3) with micromolar activity in cells. Compound 16 is a potential tool compound to study the cell biology of PKN3 and its role in pancreatic and prostate cancer and T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia. These 4-anilinoquin(az)olines may also be useful tools to uncover the therapeutic potential of PKN3 inhibition in a broad range of diseases.

Background: Curcumin, a natural polyphenolic compound, is proposed as a potential treatment option for patients with coronavirus disease by inhibiting the entry of virus to the cell, encapsulation of the virus and viral protease, as well as modulating various cellular signaling pathways. In this study, the efficacy and safety of nanocurcumin oral formulation has been evaluated in patients with mild-moderate Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in outpatient setting.

Methods: In this triple-blind randomized placebo-controlled clinical trial, sixty mild to moderate COVID-19 patients in outpatient setting who fulfilled the inclusion criteria were randomly allocated to treatment ( = 30) group to receive oral nanocurcumin formulation (Sinacurcumin soft gel which contains 40 mg curcuminoids as nanomicelles), two soft gels twice a day after food for 2 weeks or placebo ( = 30) group.

The recently reported super-multiplex optical imaging breaks the "color barrier" of fluorescence to achieve multiplexing number over six in living systems, while its temporal resolution is limited to several minutes mainly by slow color tuning. While airshed VOCs are well studied and have provided insights into public health issues, we suggest that belowground VOCs and the related vapor intrusion process could be equally or even more relevant to public health. The persistence, movement, remediation, and human health implications of subsurface VOCs in urban landscapes remain relatively understudied despite evidence of widespread contamination.
