In this report, we describe the first reported case of an oropharyngeal accessory tragus in a 20-year-old female presenting with moderate to severe left-sided conductive hearing loss. This case shares rare developmental anomalies to consider when diagnosing oropharyngeal masses that highlight the intricate embryological development of the head and neck region.

A Preliminary Study on Transcriptional Regulation of SNP Site C-1888T in the Promoter Region of Human PLUNC Gene and Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma Susceptibility.

The transcriptional regulatory factors binding to the polymorphic site C-1888T in the promoter region of the palate, lung, and nasal epithelium clone (PLUNC) gene were identified to investigate whether the C-1888T polymorphic site affects the transcriptional regulation and function of PLUNC gene. Three genotypes of C-1888T polymorphic locus were screened from established nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) cells, and the mRNA expression levels of PLUNC gene in different genotypes were detected. The respective transcription factors that were more likely to bind with A or G in SNP were predicted by biological information and preliminarily verified in vitro by gel electrophoresis migration rate analysis.

Cochlear implantation (CI) is currently recognized as the most effective treatment for severe to profound sensorineural deafness and is considered one of the most successful neural prostheses. Since its inception in 1961, cochlear implantation has expanded its range of applications to encompass younger newborns, older people, and individuals with unilateral hearing loss. In addition, it has improved its surgical methods to minimize the occurrence of complications.

The effect of right versus left long-term single-sided deafness on sound source localization.

Purpose: To analyze the effect of right versus left long-term single-sided deafness (SSD) on sound source localization (SSL), discuss the necessity of intervention and treatment for SSD patients, and analyze the therapeutic effect of long-term unilateral cochlear implantation (UCI) from the perspective of SSL.

Methods: This study included 25 patients with SSD, 11 patients with UCI, and 30 participants with normal hearing (NH). Their SSL ability was tested by obtaining their average root mean square (RMS) error values of SSL test.

To explore the efficacy of vonoprazan fumarate in the treatment of laryngopharyngeal reflux disease（LPRD） evaluated by the Chinese version of the RSS-12 scale. Background: CT angiography (CTA) is used for preoperative localization in deep inferior epigastric perforator (DIEP) flaps, but is an additional costly study that involves contrast and radiation exposure. Many patients with head and neck cancer already undergo PET/CT.
