The study aims to establish a new epithelial cell line from conjunctival squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) to facilitate research and potentially develop new treatments in ophthalmic oncology.
Epithelial cells were isolated from a SCC sample of a 74-year-old man, characterized through various analyses, resulting in the creation of a cell line named PeCa-UkHb-01, which demonstrates significant growth and maintains specific tumor and stem cell marker expressions.
The results confirm that PeCa-UkHb-01 cells represent a viable model for further research in ocular carcinoma, showing the potential for advancements in understanding and treating conjunctival SCC.
