HER2 in Uterine Serous Carcinoma: Testing platforms and implications for targeted therapy.

Objective: HER2 is an important prognostic and therapeutic target in uterine serous carcinoma (USC). Optimal HER2 testing platforms have not been defined and guidelines for testing have changed over time. Our objective is to assess the concordance of HER2 positivity based on chromogenic in situ hybridization (CISH), immunohistochemistry (IHC), and next generation sequencing (NGS) and to determine the rate of downstream mutations that may affect response to HER2 directed therapy.

Human epidermal growth factor 2 (HER2) in early stage uterine serous carcinoma: A multi-institutional cohort study.

Background: Human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) has emerged as an important prognostic and therapeutic target in advanced stage and recurrent uterine serous carcinoma (USC). The significance of tumoral HER2 expression in early-stage disease has not been established.

Methods: This multi-center cohort study included women with stage I USC treated from 2000 to 2019.

The role of operative laparoscopy in gynecologic oncology.

The potential applications of operative laparoscopy have expanded with improvements in technology and instrumentation. With newly developed techniques to complete both pelvic and paraaortic lymph node dissection, the use of the laparoscope has increased in patients with pelvic malignancies. Gynecologic oncologists are currently incorporating the techniques of operative laparoscopy in the management of patients with cervical, endometrial, and ovarian cancer.
