Article Synopsis
  • Decidualization is crucial for successful embryo implantation, and failures in this process can lead to issues like miscarriage; the extent of decidualization failure in infertile women is not well understood.
  • Researchers analyzed endometrial samples from 33 infertile women in the late-secretory phase to determine the prevalence of decidualization failure and examined key transcription factors related to the process.
  • Findings showed that 62.5% of the women experienced decidualization failure, which was linked to a history of more miscarriages, and notable differences in the expression levels of important transcription factors were observed between those with and without failures.

Purpose: Clomiphene citrate (CC) has been used as a first-line treatment for anovulatory polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). However, some patients with PCOS are resistant to standard CC treatment. In this study, a new CC treatment protocol was developed, named "intermittent CC treatment" (ICT) and its efficacy was investigated on the induction of follicular growth in patients with PCOS who were resistant to standard CC treatment.

Aim: Although a thin endometrium has been well recognized as a critical factor in implantation failure, little information is available regarding the molecular mechanisms. The present study investigated these mechanisms by using genome-wide mRNA expression analysis.

Methods: Thin and normal endometrial tissue was obtained from a total of six women during the mid-luteal phase of the menstrual cycle.
