Introduction: The aim of this study was to assess the percentage of trauma patients admitted and receiving intervention, and to identify which of these interventions were performed by non-trauma specialists.

Methods: The authors conducted a retrospective chart review of all adult patients who presented to the trauma service between January 2019 and June 2019. Collected data included demographics, trauma activation level, total interventions performed, interventions performed by the trauma team, interventions performed by subspecialty teams, and isolated injuries requiring orthopedic, neurosurgical, or other specialized care.

This paper explores the underutilized educational potential of tumor boards as a platform for medical student education. Acknowledging the complexity and multidisciplinary nature of tumor boards, we propose 12 strategic interventions aimed at integrating undergraduate medical students into these meetings to enhance their learning experience. Pineal cysts are benign, nonneoplastic lesions of the pineal gland, often identified incidentally on MRI scans. Although these cysts are usually asymptomatic, they can occasionally enlarge and compress adjacent structures, leading to neurological complications such as obstructive hydrocephalus and Parinaud's syndrome. The underlying mechanisms of pineal cyst development remain largely unclear, although inflammation - common in rheumatological conditions such as fibromyalgia - and mechanical stress have been suggested as contributing factors.

After 30 years of disappointment, 2 randomized controlled trials investigating the effect of neurosurgical treatment on functional outcome in patients with intracerebral hemorrhage were published in 2024. The ENRICH trial (Early Minimally Invasive Removal of Intracerebral Hemorrhage) studied the efficacy of early minimally invasive hematoma removal in patients with lobar or anterior basal ganglia intracerebral hemorrhage, whereas the SWITCH trial investigated the effect of decompressive craniectomy without hematoma removal in severe deep intracerebral hemorrhage. In this critique article, we will discuss the main findings of these trials, their implications and future perspectives.

Neuroanatomical sex differences estimated in neuroimaging studies are confounded by total intracranial volume (TIV) as a major biological factor. Employing a matching approach widely used for causal modeling, we disentangled the effect of TIV from sex to study sex-differentiated brain aging trajectories, their relation to functional networks and cytoarchitectonic classes, brain allometry, and cognition. Using data from the UK Biobank, we created subsamples that removed, maintained, or exaggerated the TIV differences in the original sample.
