Background Many patients after stroke are found to have elevated serum creatine kinase (CK). This study aimed to investigate the associations between serum CK levels and clinical outcomes in patients with acute ischemic stroke or transient ischemic attack. Methods and Results The study included 8910 patients with acute ischemic stroke or transient ischemic attack from the CNSR-III (Third China National Stroke Registry).

Background Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) has shown to be associated with an increased risk of atrial fibrillation in observational studies. Whether this association reflect causal effect is still unclear. The aim of this study was to evaluate the causal effect of OSA on atrial fibrillation.

Background The serum uric acid/serum creatinine ratio (SUA/SCr), which represents renal function-normalized SUA, is associated with diverse adverse outcomes. The aim of this study was to investigate the association between SUA/SCr and cardiovascular disease (CVD), and determine whether and to what extent this association is mediated by cardiometabolic factors. Methods and Results This prospective study enrolled 96 378 participants from the Kailuan study without stroke and myocardial infarction at baseline (2006).

Background Prior studies have shown an increased risk of ischemic stroke (IS) after myocardial infarction (MI); however, there are limited studies concerning the characteristics, in-hospital mortality, and complications of patients with IS with a medical history of MI. We hypothesized that patients with IS with a medical history of MI may experience more severe strokes and have a higher risk of in-hospital mortality and complications than patients with IS without a medical history of MI. Methods and Results Consecutive in-hospital data were extracted from the China Stroke Center Alliance database from August 2015 to July 2019.

Background Serum uric acid (SUA) has been demonstrated as a risk factor for myocardial infarction (MI) and all-cause mortality; however, the impact of cumulative SUA (cumSUA) remains unclear. We aimed to investigate the association of cumSUA with MI risk and all-cause mortality, and to further explore the effects of SUA accumulation time course. Methods and Results The study enrolled 53 463 participants without a history of MI, and these participants underwent 3 examinations during 2006 to 2010.

Background To investigate whether collateral status could modify the associations between post-thrombectomy blood pressure (BP) measures and outcomes. Methods and Results Patients with anterior-circulation large-vessel-occlusion successfully recanalized in a multicenter endovascular thrombectomy registry were enrolled. Pretreatment collateral status was graded and dichotomized (good/poor) in angiography.
