Objectives: Adult-onset Still's disease (AOSD) is a rare condition characterized by fevers, rash, and arthralgia/arthritis; most doctors treating AOSD in the Netherlands treat <5 patients per year. Currently, there is no internationally accepted treatment guideline for AOSD. The objectives of this study were to conduct a Delphi panel aimed at reaching consensus about diagnostic and treatment strategies for patients with AOSD and to use the outcomes as a basis for a treatment algorithm.

Background: IgA nephropathy is a chronic immune-mediated kidney disease and a major cause of kidney failure worldwide. The gut mucosal immune system is implicated in its pathogenesis, and Nefecon is a novel, oral, targeted-release formulation of budesonide designed to act at the gut mucosal level. Severe coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is characterized by hyperinflammation, vascular damage, and hypercoagulability. Insufficient responses of Annexin A1 (AnxA1), a pro-resolving inhibitor of neutrophil infiltration and activation, might contribute to a severe course of the disease. Purpose: Osteoarthritis (OA) patients demonstrated higher Osteopontin (OPN) plasma, serum, and synovial fluid concentrations than healthy individuals. In the present study, we aimed to investigate whether OPN could be used as a diagnostic or prognostic marker for OA symptom/disease severity.
Methods: Using Web of Science, PubMed, Scopus, and Embase, we conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of studies that measured OPN levels in OA patients' plasma, serum, or synovial fluid.

Background: Belimumab, an anti-B-cell activating factor antibody, is approved for the treatment of auto-antibody positive systemic lupus erythematosus with a high degree of disease activity. Anti-CD20 B cell depletion with rituximab is used in refractory SLE as well, although with variable responses. Objectives: To compare the cumulative incidence and disease severity of reported SARS-CoV-2 omicron breakthrough infections between patients with immune-mediated inflammatory diseases (IMID) on immunosuppressants and controls, and to investigate determinants for breakthrough infections.
Methods: Data were used from an ongoing national prospective multicentre cohort study on SARS-CoV-2 vaccination responses in patients with IMID in the Netherlands (Target-to-B! (T2B!) study). Patients wih IMID on immunosuppressants and controls (patients with IMID not on immunosuppressants and healthy controls) who completed primary immunisation were included.

The therapeutic potential of a novel, targeted-release formulation of oral budesonide (Nefecon) for the treatment of IgA nephropathy (IgAN) was first demonstrated by the phase 2b NEFIGAN trial. To verify these findings, the phase 3 NefigArd trial tested the efficacy and safety of nine months of treatment with Nefecon (16 mg/d) versus placebo in adult patients with primary IgAN at risk of progressing to kidney failure (ClinicalTrials.gov: NCT03643965).

Aims: Patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) have an increased risk of cardiovascular events and exhibit myocardial changes including left ventricular (LV) hypertrophy and fibrosis, overall referred to as 'uremic cardiomyopathy'. Although different CKD animal models have been studied for cardiac effects, lack of consistent reporting on cardiac function and pathology complicates clear comparison of these models. Aim: To investigate cardiac signalling pathways connecting substrate utilization with left ventricular remodelling in a murine pressure overload model.
Methods: Cardiac hypertrophy was induced by transverse aortic constriction surgery in 20-week-old C57BL/6J mice treated with or without the sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor ertugliflozin (225 mg kg chow diet) for 10 weeks.
Results: Ertugliflozin improved left ventricular function and reduced myocardial fibrosis.
