Background: Coronary microvascular dysfunction (CMD) represents an early functional characteristic of coronary vascular aging. Klotho (α-klotho) is a circulating protein inversely linked to physiological aging. We examined low klotho as a potential marker for vascular aging in patients with CMD and no coronary artery disease.

This pathological interplay is superimposed upon medical conditions, potentially bone-wasting medications, modifiable and unmodifiable personal risk factors, and genetic predisposition that accelerate bone loss with aging. In this study, the focus is on bone hemostasis and its dysregulation with aging.

This study explored patients' perceived need for weight loss and the degree of self-confidence in ability to lose weight and sought to identify factors associated with patients' self-confidence in ability to lose weight.
Methods: The authors analysed data from a survey mailed to primary care patients within five sites of the Learning Health Systems Network that explored participants' prior experience with weight management.
We are developing electrical approaches to treat biofilm-associated orthopedic foreign-body infection. Although we have previously shown that such approaches have antibiofilm activity, the effects on bone have not been assessed. Herein, low-amperage 200 μA fixed direct current (DC) was compared with no current, in a rat femoral foreign-body infection model.
