Introduction: Advanced glycation end products (AGEs) play a critical role in the development of vascular diseases in diabetes. Although stem cell therapies often involve exposure to AGEs, the impact of this environment on extracellular vesicles (EVs) and endothelial cell metabolism remains unclear.

Methods: Human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) were treated with either 0 ng/ml or 100 ng/ml AGEs in a serum-free medium for 48 hours, after which MSC-EVs were isolated.

Clinical Spectrum and Outcome of Kidney Involvement in Non-Langerhans Histiocytosis.

Introduction: The aim of this study was to describe the clinical features and treatment responses of Rosai-Dorfman disease (RDD) and Erdheim-Chester disease (ECD) with kidney involvement.

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed patients with RDD and ECD with kidney involvement from 2005 to 2023, evaluating kidney function changes, as well as computed tomography (CT), and metabolic responses.

Results: The study included 4 patients with RDD and 44 with ECD, with median ages of 58 and 51 years, respectively.

Introduction: Little is known regarding the comparison of cardiovascular and kidney outcomes between lupus nephritis (LN) and other etiologies of chronic kidney disease (CKD).

Methods: Using data from the Swedish Renal Registry (2006-2021), we compared long-term outcomes between patients with LN-CKD and patients with CKD due to primary glomerular diseases (PGD) and other CKD causes (Other-CKD, mainly diabetes and nephroangiosclerosis). Adjusted hazard ratios (HRs) of mortality, major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) and kidney replacement therapy (KRT) were estimated using Cox proportional hazard models.

Background And Objectives: Neonatal encephalopathy (NE) is characterized by an abnormal level of consciousness with or without seizures in the neonatal period. It affects 1-6/1,000 live term newborns. We applied genome sequencing (GS) in term newborns with NE to investigate the underlying genetic causes.

Background And Objectives: A previous postmortem study of men with Christianson syndrome, a disorder caused by loss-of-function mutations in the gene , reported a mechanistic link between pathologic tau accumulation and progressive symptoms such as cerebellar atrophy and cognitive decline. This study aimed to characterize the relationships between neuropathologic manifestations and tau accumulation in heterozygous women with mutation.

Methods: We conducted a multimodal neuroimaging and plasma biomarker study on 3 middle-aged heterozygous women with mutations (proband 1: mid-50s; proband 2: early 50s; proband 3: mid-40s) presenting with progressive extrapyramidal symptoms.

The efficacy of hydroxychloroquine in paediatric chronic immune thrombocytopenia: A retrospective cohort study.

Aims: Research on hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) for children with chronic immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) is limited. The association between antinuclear antibody (ANA) positivity and its efficacy remains unclear.

Methods: This retrospective cohort study compared the clinical characteristics of children with chronic ITP who received HCQ with those who did not, as well as patients who responded to HCQ at 3 months with those who did not.

Kneeling tolerance when using quadriceps tendon autograft for anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction is superior to hamstring tendon autograft.

Purpose: To investigate kneeling tolerance in patients undergoing hamstring (HT) versus quadriceps (QT) anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) and investigate correlation with patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs).

Methods: After recruitment and randomisation, 112 patients (HT = 55; QT = 57) underwent ACLR. Patients were assessed at 6, 12 and 24 months using the Kneeling Tolerance Test, which evaluates patient-reported pain in a position of both 90 (KT90) and 110 (KT110) degrees of knee flexion.

The incidence of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) complicated with osteoporosis (OP) (T2DM-OP) is growing. Dapagliflozin and metformin are commonly prescribed to manage glycemic levels in T2DM patients. We investigated the clinical efficacy of combining dapagliflozin with metformin in elderly patients with T2DM-OP.

Long-Term Clinical Outcomes After Autologous Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation in 49 Individuals Living With HIV (PLWH) and Affected by High-Risk or Relapsed Lymphoma: A European Experience of Continued Relevance for PLWH.

Previous reports have indicated that during the era of combination antiretroviral therapy, the major causes of morbidity and mortality in people living with HIV (PLWH) were not solely linked to HIV-related opportunistic infections but also to cancers that were difficult to manage due to HIV-related immunodeficiency. We investigated whether PLWH who underwent autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (ASCT) for lymphomas experienced significant morbidity over the past thirty years following HIV infection. We conducted a retrospective follow-up study of 49 PLWH over a 10-year period following ASCT.

Position Statement: The International Society of Sports Nutrition (ISSN) presents this position based on a critical examination of the literature surrounding the effects of long-chain omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid (ω-3 PUFA) supplementation on exercise performance, recovery, and brain health. This position stand is intended to provide a scientific foundation for athletes, dietitians, trainers, and other practitioners regarding the effects of supplemental ω-3 PUFA in healthy and athletic populations. The following conclusions represent the official position of the ISSN: Athletes may be at a higher risk for ω-3 PUFA insufficiency.

Excess cardiometabolic risk in children and adolescents initiating antipsychotic treatment compared to young adults: results from a nationwide cohort study.

Antipsychotic treatment is associated with cardiometabolic risks that may be especially detrimental to children and adolescents. In this Danish population-based cohort study, we included individuals with psychiatric diagnoses who initiated antipsychotics in 2000-2021 at age 6-31 years. We assessed the risk of cardiometabolic adverse events up to 10 years following incident exposure to antipsychotics, compared to age- and sex-matched unexposed individuals with psychiatric diagnoses.
