Rationale: Acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is the leading global cause of death from cardiovascular disease, and the mortality rate increases in the presence of comorbidities such as renal abscess. The treatment of AMI combined with renal abscess is challenging, especially in combination with urinary tract obstruction, as percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) can lead to progression of the renal abscess and deterioration of renal function. Currently, there is no consensus on the treatment of renal abscess in AMI.

Lumbar disc herniation (LDH) is a common spinal disease. In recent years, an increasing number of observational studies have reported the impact of inflammatory factors on LDH. By conducting Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis on 91 inflammatory factors, it is possible to reveal their causal relationship with LDH, providing new insights for prevention and treatment strategies.

To evaluate the long-term clinical outcomes of iodine-125 low dose-rate brachytherapy (LDR-BT)-based treatment approaches for ≤ cT3 prostate cancer (PC) patients in China, as well as the effects on the PC immune microenvironment. Data was retrospectively collected from 237 patients with ≤ cT3 PC who were treated with radical prostatectomy (RP) or LDR-BT alone or in combination with androgen deprivation therapy (ADT), and biochemical progression-free survival (bPFS), prostate cancer-specific survival (PCSS) and overall survival (OS) rates were compared. In 63 cases, PC patients received RP after biopsy, received at least 6 months of ADT before RP, or received LDR-BT and deferred limited transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP).

Acupotomy therapy for knee osteoarthritis: An overview of systematic reviews.

Background: This study aimed to evaluate the methodological quality, report quality, and evidence quality of a meta-analysis (MA) and systematic review (SR) of the efficacy of acupotomy in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis (KOA), and provided a reference for clinical decision-making.

Methods: We searched 8 databases to collect systematic reviews and meta-analyses on the efficacy of acupotomy in the treatment of KOA from January 30, 2018, to January 31, 2023. The methodological quality of the studies was assessed using the assessment of multiple systematic reviews (AMSTAR) 2 scale, the quality of the literature reports was scored using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systems Reviews and Meta-Analyses 2020 Version (PRISMA 2020),and the quality of the evidence was graded using the grading of recommendations assessment, development, and evaluation (GRADE) scale.

Urinary calculi successfully expelled in a patient through traditional Chinese exercise: A case report.

Rationale: Urinary calculi are hard mineral deposits that typically require medication or surgery, such as lithotripsy. This case report presents traditional Chinese exercises (TCEs) as a potential alternative for stone expulsion.

Patient Concerns: A 41-year-old male with no history of urinary tract stones, experienced sudden severe lower back and abdominal pain accompanied by nausea and vomiting.

Identification of mutation of MYOC (c.1099G>A), a pedigree pathogenic gene of juvenile open angle glaucoma (JOAG): A case report.

Rationale: The MYOC gene is associated with juvenile open-angle glaucoma (JOAG). This study aims to provide genetic counseling for a Chinese JOAG family by detecting MYOC mutations to identify high-risk individuals for early JOAG intervention. It also supplements the clinical characteristics of glaucoma patients with MYOC gene mutations.

Comparison of laboratory characteristics and clinical prognosis of APL with negative and positive PML-RARα gene.

This study analyzes the laboratory characteristics and prognosis of patients between PML-RARα negative APL and PML-RARα positive APL and compares the differences in order to improve the understanding of this rare APL and guide clinical diagnosis and treatment. A total of 81 patients with newly diagnosed APL based on bone marrow cell morphology were included, with 14 in the PML-RARα gene negative group and 67 in the PML-RARα gene positive group. The sex, age, peripheral blood routine test, coagulation related indicators, bone marrow cell morphology, flow cytometric immunophenotype, abnormal chromosome expression and prognosis of the 2 groups were analyzed and compared.

The basal metabolic rate (BMR) is a crucial indicator of the body's energy expenditure at rest and is essential for understanding metabolic needs. This retrospective study evaluated the prognostic significance of BMR in 521 predominantly Asian patients with stage I-III gastric cancer who underwent curative-intent resection. BMR was calculated using the Food and Agriculture Organization/World Health Organization/United Nations University (FWU BMR) equation.

The aim of this study is to conduct a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of CT-based adipose tissue imaging related to coronary artery disease (CAD) to investigate the dynamic development of this field. Web of Science Core Collection was used as our data source to identify relevant documents limited to articles or review articles and written in English with no time restrictions. Then we analyzed the whole trend of publications and utilized VOSviewer and Bibliometrix to conduct a bibliometric analysis including citations, keywords, countries, institutions, authors as well as co-citation analyses of cited references and sources.

Femoral neck fracture in a senile patient with primary hyperparathyroidism: A case report.

Rationale: As a rare cause of femoral neck fracture, usually, hyperparathyroidism is missed diagnosed by orthopedist. Patient can present with various disappearance of clinical manifestations. Primary hyperparathyroidism in senile male population is commonly an asymptomatic disorder discovered incidentally through routine lab testing.

Efficacy of perioperative multimodal analgesia in minimally invasive thoracoscopic treatment for severe blunt chest trauma with hemopneumothorax.

This retrospective study evaluates the clinical impact of perioperative multimodal analgesia in the minimally invasive treatment of severe blunt chest trauma with hemopneumothorax using a thoracoscopic Ni-Ti shape memory embracing plate. A total of 100 patients with severe blunt chest trauma and moderate to severe hemopneumothorax treated at Hanyang Hospital affiliated with Wuhan University of Science and Technology from January 2019 to January 2022 were enrolled. Patients were divided into 2 groups: a control group (50 patients) receiving patient-controlled intravenous analgesia (PCIA), and a study group (50 patients) administered a multimodal analgesia regimen.

Clinical characteristics and autonomic balance in patients with burning mouth syndrome: A retrospective chart review.

This study aimed to identify the clinical characteristics of patients with burning mouth syndrome (BMS) according to the low frequency/high frequency (LF/HF) ratio in the heart rate variability test and to evaluate the potential of the LF/HF ratio as an indicator for the diagnostic or predictive assessment of patients with BMS. A total of 469 patients with BMS who visited the Oral Diseases Clinic of Kyung Hee University Korean Medicine Hospital between January 1, 2018, and December 31, 2022, were included in the study. Role of IFN-γ, IL-33, and IL-35 concentrations in tuberculous pleural effusion in diagnosis and analysis of the effectiveness of combined tests.

This study examines the diagnostic utility of the combined interleukin-33 (IL-33), interferon-γ (IFN-γ), and interleukin-35 (IL-35) test in tuberculous pleural effusion. Forty patients with pleural effusion of unknown etiology admitted to the hospital between December 2020 and December 2023 were selected as the study group. The patients were further categorized into tuberculous (TB) (n = 20) and malignant (n = 20) groups on the basis of their relevant data, while sera from 20 healthy medical checkups were used as control group.
