Background: The European Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension (CTEPH) registry, conducted between 2007 and 2012, reported the major impact of pulmonary endarterectomy (PEA) on the long-term survival of patients with CTEPH. Since then, 2 additional treatments for inoperable CTEPH have become available: balloon pulmonary angioplasty (BPA), and an approved oral drug therapy with the guanylate cyclase stimulator riociguat. The current registry aimed to evaluate the effect of these new therapeutic approaches in a worldwide context.

Background: The common femoral artery and radial artery constitute the most common access sites in contemporaneous endovascular neurosurgery. Oftentimes, it may be impossible to reach the vascular target safely due to different circumstances, necessitating alternative approaches. We aim to review these "last resource" access sites described in the literature, focusing on the technical aspects as a convenient reference.

A compartmental pharmacokinetics (PK) analysis of new extended half-life FVIII concentrates has never been performed in a large cohort of hemophilia patients. An improved PK analysis of individual outcomes may help to tailor hemophilia replacement treatment. PK outcomes after the infusion of a standard single dose of Efmoroctocog alfa were collected from 173 patients with severe/moderately severe hemophilia A in 11 Italian hemophilia centers.

Despite the innovations introduced in the 2022 European Society of Cardiology/European Respiratory Society Guidelines on Pulmonary Hypertension, risk discrimination and management of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) patients at intermediate risk still represents a grey zone. Additionally, clinical evidence derived from currently available studies is limited. This expert panel survey intends to aid physicians in choosing the best therapeutic strategy for patients at intermediate risk despite ongoing oral therapy.

Background: Multicenter precision oncology real-world evidence requires a substantial long-term investment by hospitals to prepare their data and align on common Clinical Research processes and medical definitions. Our team has developed a self-assessment framework to support hospitals and hospital networks to measure their digital maturity and better plan and coordinate those investments. From that framework, we developed PRISM for Cancer Outcomes: PR: agmatic I: nstitutional S: urvey and benchM: arking.

Department of Particle Therapy, University Hospital Essen, University of Duisburg-Essen, Duisburg, Germany.
Particle therapy (PT) represents a significant advancement in cancer treatment, precisely targeting tumor cells while sparing surrounding healthy tissues thanks to the unique depth-dose profiles of the charged particles. Furthermore, their linear energy transfer and relative biological effectiveness enhance their capability to treat radioresistant tumors, including hypoxic ones. Over the years, extensive research has paved the way for PT's clinical application, and current efforts aim to refine its efficacy and precision, minimizing the toxicities.

Background: Glioblastoma (GBM) stands as the most prevalent and aggressive form of adult gliomas. Despite the implementation of intensive therapeutic approaches involving surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy, Glioblastoma Stem Cells contribute to tumor recurrence and poor prognosis. The induction of Glioblastoma Stem Cells differentiation by manipulating the transcriptional machinery has emerged as a promising strategy for GBM treatment.

Background: Alopecia areata is an autoimmune condition characterized by rapid hair loss in the scalp, eyebrows and eyelashes, for which treatments are limited. Baricitinib, an oral inhibitor of Janus kinases 1 and 2, has been recently approved to treat alopecia areata.
Materials And Methods: We conducted a retrospective study involving 23 medical centres across Italy, enrolling patients affected by severe alopecia areata (SALT >50), for more than 6 months.

Background: Transthyretin amyloid cardiomyopathy (ATTR-CM) is an underdiagnosed cause of heart failure (HF).
Methods: This epidemiology study assessed the international prevalence of ATTR-CM among patients aged ≥60 years with a history of HF, left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) >40%, an end-diastolic interventricular septum thickness (IVST) ≥12 mm, but without diagnosed amyloidosis, history of LVEF ≤40%, cardiomyopathy of known cause, severe valvular, or coronary heart disease. ATTR-CM was determined using cardiac scintigraphy alongside exclusionary testing for light chain amyloidosis.

Introduction: People with severe mental illness have poor cardiometabolic health. Commonly used antidepressants and antipsychotics frequently lead to weight gain, which may further contribute to adverse cardiovascular outcomes.
Areas Covered: We searched MEDLINE up to April 2023 for umbrella reviews, (network-)meta-analyses, trials and cohort studies on risk factors, prevention and treatment strategies of weight gain associated with antidepressants/antipsychotics.

Objective: The prevalence of anxiety and depression in patients diagnosed with Alopecia Areata (AA) is very high and this significant burden of psychological symptoms threatens the Health-Related Quality of Life (HRQoL) of affected patients. Indeed, AA often does not produce significant physical symptoms, but it nonetheless disrupts many areas of mental health. Clinical assessment of disease severity may not reliably predict patient's HRQoL, nor may it predict the patient's perception of illness.

Background: A primary goal in treating obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (oHCM) is to improve patients' health status: their symptoms, function, and quality of life. The health status benefits of aficamten, a novel cardiac myosin inhibitor, have not been comprehensively described.
Objectives: This study sought to determine the effect of aficamten on patient-reported health status, including symptoms of fatigue, shortness of breath, chest pain, physical and social limitations, and quality of life.
