Ticagrelor is a platelet P2Y receptor inhibitor approved for use in patients with acute coronary syndromes, coronary artery disease, and low-moderate risk acute ischemic stroke or high-risk transient ischemic attack. Clinical trials have evaluated the efficacy and safety of ticagrelor on ischemic and bleeding outcomes for different indications and with varying treatment approaches. As a result, there is a large body of clinical evidence demonstrating different degrees of net clinical benefit compared with other platelet inhibitor drugs based on indication, patient characteristics, clinical presentation, treatment duration, and other factors.

Disrupted Lives: Caregivers' Experiences of In-Hospital Cardiac Arrest Survivors' Recovery 5 Years Later.

Background Survivors of in-hospital cardiac arrest (IHCA) experience ongoing physical and cognitive impairments, often requiring support from a caregiver at home afterwards. Caregivers are important in the survivor's recovery, yet there is little research specifically focused on their experiences once the survivor is discharged home. In this study, we highlight how caregivers for veteran IHCA survivors described and experienced their caregiver role, the strategies they used to fulfill their role, and the additional needs they still have years after the IHCA event.

Improving preprocedure antithrombotic management: Implementation and sustainment of a best practice alert and pharmacist referral process.

Background: Electronic medical record-based interventions such as best practice alerts, or reminders, have been proposed to improve evidence-based medication prescribing. Formal implementation evaluation including long-term sustainment are not commonly reported. Preprocedural medication management is often a complex issue for patients taking antithrombotic medications.

Harnessing Twitter to empower scientific engagement and communication: The ISTH 2020 virtual congress experience.

As a result of the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic, the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH), like many societies around the world, canceled their in-person hematology congress planned for Milan, Italy, in July 2020. As a result, the first virtual ISTH congress in the organisation's 51-year history was delivered, inviting free registration from across the globe. As part of the social media support, marketing, and scientific dissemination efforts for the virtual congress, the ISTH assembled a group of official Twitter Ambassadors, which represented the broad and diverse ISTH community.

Background: The electrolytic inferior vena cava model (EIM) is a murine venous thrombosis (VT) model that produces a non-occlusive thrombus. The thrombus forms in the direction of blood flow, as observed in patients. The EIM is valuable for investigations of therapeutics due to the presence of continuous blood flow.

Reduced dosing of enoxaparin for venous thromboembolism in overweight and obese adolescents: a single institution retrospective review.

Background: The global obesity epidemic has created new challenges, including venous thromboembolisms (VTE) in obese adolescents. The data on whether to reduce the dose of low-molecular heparin in obese adults is conflicting, and information on adolescent patients is scarce.

Objectives: Our primary goal was to describe dosing, anti-Xa levels, and outcomes of overweight and obese adolescents who received reduced doses of enoxaparin at the initiation of therapy.

Primary myelofibrosis evolving to an aplastic appearing marrow.

Our case highlights a series of bone marrow biopsies from a patient with primary myelofibrosis. Over time, this patient developed an unusual fatty appearance to his marrow, confirmed on multiple biopsies. This finding was supported by a quantitative fat MRI sequence that also shows a fatty appearance to the marrow.
