The aim of this study is to explore the influencing factors of the posterior nostril re-atresia by analyzing the clinical data of endoscopic posterior nostril reconstruction in the children with posterior nostril atresia. Retrospectively reviewed 46 pediatric patients with congenital choanal atresia who underwent endoscopic posterior nostril reconstruction. Randomly divided the cases into the atresia group(19 cases) and the non-atresia group(27 cases) according to whether the new posterior nostril re-atresia again.

May 2021

Nanjing Maternity and Child Health Care Institute, Women's Hospital of Nanjing Medical University, Nanjing Maternity and Child Health Care Hospital, Nanjing, China.

Objectives: Whether the maternal vitamin D deficiency is associated with preeclampsia is still an argument. We aimed to assess the association between maternal serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D [25(OH)D] concentrations and risk of preeclampsia in a Chinese population and systematically evaluate published evidence on this association.

Methods: We conducted a nested case-control study involving 122 pregnant women with preeclampsia and 488 pregnant women whose blood pressure was within the normal range (as controls).

Introduction And Objectives: Transforming growth factor β1 (TGFβ1) and dysregulated microRNA-21 (miR-21) expression is associated with TGFβ/Smad signaling pathway activation and fibrosis. While calcitriol has been shown to improve airway remodeling in asthmatic mice, its mechanism remains unknown. In this study, the effect of calcitriol on the TGFβ/Smad signaling pathway and miR-21 expression in human bronchial fibroblasts was investigated to explore the mechanism of action of calcitriol and the inhaled glucocorticoid, budesonide, in airway remodeling.

Objective: To investigate the differential expression of the thymic stromal lymphopoietin isoforms, short and long, and discern their biological implications under eosinophilic gastroenteritis.

Methods: The expression of thymic stromal lymphopoietin and its two isoforms in tissues was assessed by quantitative RT-PCR in healthy controls (n=24) and patients with eosinophilic gastroenteritis (n=17).

Results: Thymic stromal lymphopoietin mRNA was significantly reduced in eosinophilic gastroenteritis when compared with healthy controls (p<0.

It has been shown that human breast milk (HBM) is an important nutrient for the growth and development of newborns. Currently, peptide drugs provide promising regimes in neonatal disease treatment, especially peptides from HBM that exhibit multiple functions within cells. To explore the potential biological function peptides among the colostrum, transition and mature milk from mother of extremely low birth weight children (the samples were collected from Women's Hospital of Nanjing Medical University from December 2016 to February 2017).

Treatment abandonment in childhood acute lymphoblastic leukaemia in China: a retrospective cohort study of the Chinese Children's Cancer Group.

Arch Dis Child

June 2019

Department of Hematology/Oncology, Shanghai Children's Medical Center, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, Key Lab of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology of China Ministry of Health, and National Children's Medical Center, Shanghai, China.

Objectives: Before 2003, most children with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL) abandoned treatment, with only approximately 30% treated in China. With the development of national insurance for underprivileged patients, we assessed the current frequency and causes of treatment abandonment among patients with ALL who were enrolled in the Chinese Children's Cancer Group ALL protocol between 2015 and 2016.

Methods: Demographic, clinical and laboratory data on patients who abandoned treatment, as well as economic and sociocultural data of their families were collected and analysed.

Histone acetylation is important in the modification of gene transcription in asthma and is regulated by histone acetyltransferases (HATs). P300 (P300 HAT) is an enzyme that is able to acetylate a wide variety of proteins. The modification of core histones can further regulate gene transcription, cell proliferation and other cell processes.

Background: The aim of this study was to investigate the association of the formation of neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) with gut leakage in type 1 (T1D) and type 2 diabetes (T2D).

Methods: In all, 105 subjects (56 T1D, 49 T2D) were included in the study. Eight biomarkers of NET formation and gut leakage (ie, protein arginine deiminase type 4 [PAD4], neutrophil elastase [NE], proteinase 3 [PR3], complement 5a [C5a], α -antitrypsin [AAT], DNase I, zonulin, and lipopolysaccharide [LPS]) were measured in serum samples by ELISA.

Liver ischemia/reperfusion injury (IRI) occurs during partial liver resection and liver transplantation. Activation of Toll-like receptors (TLRs) is a key event triggered by a range of proinflammatory cytokines during liver I/R. Although it has been reported that miR-155 takes part in both innate and adaptive immune responses, the potential role of miR-155 in liver IRI remains unknown.

Inflammation reaction plays an important role in the pathogenesis of ankle fracture. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of RvD1 on the inflammatory response and underlying molecular mechanisms in MG-63 cells. Reverse transcription-quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) and ELISA were used to determine the mRNA and protein expression of cytokines extracted from peripheral blood in children with or without ankle fracture, respectively.

Salivary adenoid cystic carcinoma (SACC) is a common malignancy of the salivary glands. Epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and P53 signaling pathway are associated with SACC metastasis and progression. Although simvastatin (SIM) is effective against the growth of many cancer types, its side effects limit its use.
