Objective: Excessive daytime sleepiness (EDS) is common in obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and has been linked to adverse outcomes, albeit inconsistently. Furthermore, whether the prognostic impact of EDS differs as a function of sex is unclear. We aimed to assess the associations between EDS and chronic diseases and mortality in men and women with OSA.

Profiling of lung microbiota in the patients with obstructive sleep apnea.

Medicine (Baltimore)

June 2018

The Center of Hypertension of the People's Hospital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, The Center of Diagnosis, Treatment and Research of Hypertension in Xinjiang Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Department, People's Hospital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Urumqi, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, China.

Lung microbiota may affect innate immunity and treatment consequence in the obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) patients. Bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) was obtained from 11 OSA patients and 8 patients with other lung diseases as control, and used for lung microbiota profiling by PCR amplification and sequencing of the microbial samples. It was demonstrated that phyla of Firmicutes, Fusobacteria, and Bacteriodetes were relatively abundant in the lung microbiota.

Pulmonary surfactant-associated proteins and inflammatory factors in obstructive sleep apnea.

Sleep Breath

March 2018

The Center of Hypertension of the People's Hospital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, The Center of Diagnosis, Treatment and Research of Hypertension in Xinjiang Hypertension Institute of Xinjiang, Urumqi, China.

Purpose: Pulmonary surfactant (PS) plays roles in promoting the removal of the liquid, host defense, and immune regulation in the tracheal, bronchial, and alveoli epithelium. PS protein expression level can be regulated by oxygen levels and related free radicals. Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is featured with oxygen free radical production for damaging epithelial tissues and thus may affect PS production.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relation between expression of Wnt11, Rho-associated protein kinase 2 (Rock2), and its clinical characteristics in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). Expression of Wnt11 and Rock2 protein was examined by using immunohistochemistry that contained 260 paraffin-embedded specimens of ESCC and its adjacent normal tissues; expression of Wnt11 and Rock2 protein was verified by Western-blotting that contained 20 specimens of ESCC and its adjacent normal tissues. The positive rates of Wnt11 protein in normal esophageal epithelium tissue was 29.

iTRAQ-based quantitative proteomic analysis of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.

Tumour Biol

February 2016

Department of Pathology, First Affiliated Hospital, Xinjiang Medical University, Urumqi, 830054, China.

Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) is one of the most common cancers. In this study, our objective was to identify differentially regulated proteins in ESCC using isobaric tag for relative and absolute quantification (iTRAQ) technique and liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). We compared the protein expression profiles of ESCC tumor tissues with the corresponding adjacent normal tissue from three patients.

Background And Objectives: Adenoid cystic primary pulmonary carcinomas (adenoid cystic carcinomas or ACCs) are rare tumors, so we described the clinical and pathological features of these tumors and related these findings with diagnosis and prognosis of ACC, comparing our data to the existing literature.

Methods: Clinical and pathological features of 12 ACC cases were observed and described. Immunohistochemical EnVision staining, fluorescent PCR detection, and FISH were used to characterize tumor samples and the literature was reviewed.

Background: Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) is one of the most malignancies with a very poor outcome in China. Wnt11 and Rock2, new identified proteins highly associated with metastasis of many cancers, which were never reported in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). Here we measured the expression levels of Wnt11 and Rock2 in tissues from 265 patients with ESCC.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study investigates the relationship between upper-airway narrowing and peripheral airway factors in obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) patients, highlighting how decreased lung volume and increased lung pressure contribute to OSA severity, particularly in obese individuals.
  • - A total of 263 obese participants (193 males and 70 females) without prior lung diseases were analyzed; they were categorized into OSA and non-OSA groups based on nocturnal polysomnography, with further segmentation by gender due to different lung and airway characteristics.
  • - Results indicated that OSA patients had significantly reduced functional lung capacities and increased respiratory resistance compared to non-OSA individuals, regardless of BMI, suggesting that these lung volume decreases are linked to OSA severity for both genders.

Recent data have indicated that inflammation may have an important correlation with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Studies have indicated a relationship between OSA and TNF-α gene polymorphisms. Zinc finger protein 36 (ZFP36) regulates TNF-α mRNAs.

Background/aim: Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) is one of the most common malignant tumors. It has been reported that Wnt signaling pathway plays an important role in Esophageal Cancer progression, metastasis and invasion. However the clinicopathological significance of Wnt2, GSK3β, and β-catenin in ESCC has been little reported.

August 2014

Center of Hypertension of the People's Hospital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Center of Diagnosis,Treatment, and Research of Hypertension in Xinjiang,Urumqi 830001,China.

Objective: To investigate the relationship between genetic polymorphisms of glucose transporter 4 (GLUT4) and hypoxia caused by obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) as well as with related inflammatory factors.

Methods: Consecutive hypertension patients diagnosed at the People's Hospital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region were selected from January to December 2010. A total of 859 subjects with possible OSAS base on their histories and physical examination findings udner went the polysomnography and inflammatory factor determination, of whom 616 (72%) were diagnosed with moderate and severe hypoxia with OSAS (case group) and 243 (28%) without hypoxia or OASA (control group).

Zhongguo Yi Xue Ke Xue Yuan Xue Bao

February 2014

Hypertension Center of the People's Hospital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Hypertension Institute of Xinjiang, Urumuqi 830001, China.

Objective: To explore whether the polymorphism of suppressor of cytokine signaling-3 (SOCS-3) and dyslipidemia are correlated in Uygur females.

Methods: A total of 1379 Uygur females from Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region were enrolled in this study. Three single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), namely rs12953258, rs4969168, and rs9914220, were analyzed after being genotyped.
