Background: In Russia, physicians are virtually unaware of drugs based on needle extract. However, abroad, saponins and, in particular, a combined preparation containing needle extract, hesperidin and vitamin C is one of drugs of choice, if not the leading medication in treatment of venous oedemas and other venous symptoms.
Aim: The authors conducted a systematic review of the Russian-and English-language literature using the following search terms: saponins, hesperidin, needle, ruscus, ruscogenin (and their Russian equivalents), each of which was entered in a combination with the word 'venous' or its Russian equivalent, respectively.

According to the results of modern researchers, the main techniques used in congenital pathology of the aortic valve in children include balloon catheter dilatation of the aortic valve, surgical valvuloplasty, the Ross procedure and replacement of the aortic valve with a mechanical prosthesis. Many surgeons point out that these techniques in congenital pathology of the aortic valve yield suboptimal results. This is often due to the lack of a clear-cut definition between surgeons as to what operation should be performed in a particular age group.

The timely diagnosis of necrotic fasciitis (NF) - an extremely rare fatal complication of acute appendicitis is difficult due to the variability of the clinical picture and depends on the degree of inflammatory changes in the appendix wall, localization, age, reactivity, and the presence or absence of comorbidities. It is characterized by high mortality rate, associated with the rapid progression of the disease with the development of septic shock and multiple organ failure. A clinical case of necrotic fasciitis of the right lower limb without damage of the anterior abdominal wall, secondary to the perforated process, as an extremely rare complication of appendicitis is presented.

Wound healing is a complex process and an ongoing challenge for modern medicine. Herein, we present the results of study of structure and properties of ferroelectric composite polymer membranes for wound healing. Membranes were fabricated by electrospinning from a solution of vinylidene fluoride/tetrafluoroethylene copolymer (VDF-TeFE) and polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) in dimethylformamide (DMF).

Atherosclerosis obliterans is managed by various reconstructions of lower-limb arteries, but despite this, in the immediate and remote postoperative period there appears the necessity to carry out repeat reconstructions, which might be caused by shunt thrombosis, progression of atherosclerosis, etc. One of the methods of solving this problem is revascularization of lower-limb arteries through the deep femoral vein with plasty thereof. In occlusive lesions of the superficial femoral artery, the deep femoral artery plays the key role in blood supply of the entire extremity.

Currently, there remains a great need to elucidate the molecular mechanism of acute myocardial infarction in order to facilitate the development of novel therapy. Inhibitor of apoptosis-stimulating protein of p53 (iASPP) is a member of the ASPP family proteins and an evolutionarily preserved inhibitor of p53 that is involved in many cellular processes, including apoptosis of cancer cells. The purpose of this study was to investigate the possible role of iASPP in acute myocardial infarction.

The article deals with the relevant literature data concerning diagnosis and treatment of subclavian artery aneurysms. This nosological entity is relatively uncommon, however its importance for modern medicine should not be underestimated. Despite a low incidence of the pathology, it should be understood that the disease's course for the patient is associated with the development of severe complications which may lead to disability or even death.

The establishment of a proangiogenic phenotype and epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) are considered as critical events that promote the induction of invasive growth in epithelial tumors, and stimulation of lymphangiogenesis is believed to confer the capacity for early dissemination to cancer cells. Recent research has revealed substantial interdependence between these processes at the molecular level as they rely on common signaling networks. Of great interest are the molecular mechanisms of (lymph-)angiogenesis and EMT associated with the earliest stages of transition from intraepithelial development to invasive growth, as they could provide the source of potentially valuable tools for targeting tumor metastasis.

The article contains a systematic review of the literature dedicated to vascular robot-assisted operations, also discussing the use of robotic technologies in vascular surgery, their advantages and disadvantages. In so doing, we studied the experience of Russian and leading international surgical centres, comparing the reported outcomes by such parameters as the average duration of the operation, mean time of aortic cross-clamping, time spent for anastomosis formation, frequency of postoperative complications, etc. Benefits of robot-assisted operations allowed the latter to occupy the leading positions in various fields of surgery, although the use of robots in vascular surgery has only begun to gain popularity.
