Minimally invasive techniques in the management of muscular temporomandibular joint disorders: A five-year observational study.

Background: To evaluate the effectiveness of three minimally invasive techniques for managing patients with myofascial pain dysfunction, determine their association with sociodemographic factors, habits, medication usage, comorbidities, treatment history, pain duration, complaint intensity, and diagnosis limitations.

Material And Methods: This five-year observational study scrutinized 1,000 medical records from individuals treated at the TMD Orofacial Dental Research Center. TMD treatments were organized into Group 1 (thermotherapy, exercises, and CBT), Group 2 (Group 1 plus intramuscular manual therapy), and Group 3 (Group 1 and Group 2 plus occlusal appliances) and correlated with sociodemographic factors, habits, prior medication usage, comorbidities, history of prior treatments, duration of pain, intensity of complaint, and diagnosis limitations or without limitations regarding the symptoms of muscular temporomandibular disorders (TMD).

Effectiveness of oral health education on oral hygiene status among adult male inmates in central jail, Kolkata - an interventional study.

Purpose: Oral health is an integral part of general health. Different population groups have been assessed for oral health status in India, but still, many have been neglected; one such group is the prisoners. The prison population is a unique and challenging one with many health problems, including poor oral health, which may be due to lack of knowledge about good oral health practices.

Facilitators, barriers, and changes in POCUS use: longitudinal follow-up after participation in a national point-of-care ultrasound training course in Japan.

Background: POCUS training courses are effective at improving knowledge and skills, but few studies have followed learners longitudinally post-course to understand facilitators, barriers, and changes in POCUS use in clinical practice. We conducted a prospective observational study of physicians who attended 11 standardized POCUS training courses between 2017 and 2019 in Japan. Physicians who attended a standardized POCUS course were surveyed about their current frequency of POCUS use of the heart, lung, abdomen, and lower extremity veins, and perceived barriers and facilitators to POCUS use in clinical practice.

The relationship between self-reported preventive and curative orientations of dentists and oral healthcare services provided to Dutch young patients: An observational study.

The aims of this study were to investigate the relationship between self-reported preventive and curative orientations of general dental practitioners (GDPs) and the oral healthcare services (OHS) they provided to patients under 18-years-old. And in addition, to determine which patient, GDP, and dental practice characteristics predicted the provision of preventive and curative care. GDPs in the Netherlands using dental software program Exquise (>2,000) were invited to participate in this study voluntarily.

In-person to virtual interprofessional education: Teamwork attitudes and skills among dental and dental hygiene students.

Objectives: The interruption to clinical professions' instruction due to closures from the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic posed a significant hurdle to clinical education and presented a necessity to shift how instruction was delivered to resume educational activities. This study sought to answer the research question: did the transition from in-person to virtual instruction for interprofessional education (IPE) have an impact on students' perceptions of team attitudes and skills to learn and work in interprofessional groups?

Methods: All participating first-year dental and second-year dental hygiene students enrolled in the campus-wide IPE course were invited to complete the Team Skills Scale (TSS) assessment before and after the course for two academic years 2019-2020 and 2020-2021. Paired t-tests were utilized to assess the change in student attitudes and skills from pre- to post-course assessment, and t-tests were used to assess mean differences between student cohorts 2019-2020 and 2020-2021.

Introduction And Aims: The practice manager (PM) is a familiar position in Dutch oral healthcare. However, little is known about in which type of practice they work and what their responsibilities are. The aims of this study were to analyse the characteristics of oral healthcare practices that employ a PM and practices that do not, to determine responsibility for tasks described in the PM function description, and to assess to what extent the role of a PM varies between those with an oral healthcare and another background, and across practices with different characteristics.

Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is the most frequent malignancy in the general population. To date, dermoscopy is considered a key tool for the diagnosis of BCC; nevertheless, line-field confocal optical coherence tomography (LC-OCT), a new non-invasive optical technique, has become increasingly important in clinical practice, allowing for in vivo imaging at cellular resolution. The present study aimed to investigate the possible correlation between the dermoscopic features of BCC and their LC-OCT counterparts.
