Cross-cultural adaptation and psychometric properties of the Malay version of parenting and child tooth brushing assessment (M-PACTA).

Background: Malaysian preschool children continue to exhibit a high prevalence of dental caries and poor oral hygiene. There is a need to gain an in-depth understanding of oral hygiene habits and design suitable interventions to improve oral hygiene in early childhood.

Objective: To cross-culturally adapt and determine the psychometric properties of the Malay-translated Parenting and Child Tooth Brushing Assessment questionnaire (M-PACTA).

A Rare Case Report of Unusual Number of Compound Odontomas in a Pediatric Patient.

Aim: This case report aims to describe the importance of early diagnosis, clinical features, and timely management of multiple odontomas in pediatric patient.

Background: Odontoma is a benign odontogenic tumor of epithelial and mesenchymal origin. Odontomas can occur in multiples and can be associated with other dental anomalies.

Most meta-analyses in oral health do not have conclusive and robust results.

Objectives: In meta-analyses with few studies, between-study heterogeneity is poorly estimated. The Hartung and Knapp (HK) correction and the prediction intervals can account for the uncertainty in estimating heterogeneity and the range of effect sizes we may encounter in future trials, respectively. The aim of this study was to assess the reported use of the HK correction in oral health meta-analyses and to compare the published reported results and interpretation i) to those calculated using eight heterogeneity estimators and the HK adjustment ii) and to the prediction intervals (PIs).

Are physical and mechanical properties of 3D resins dependent on the manufacturing method?

This research analyzed the effect of the manufacturing method on the flexural strength and color stability of 3D-printed resins used for producing indirect restorations. For this, two dental restorative biocompatible resin materials, OnX (OnX, SprintRay) and CB (Crown and Bridge, Dentca), were divided into 2 groups according with manufacturing method (printed with a Pro95 3D printer - SprintRay; and not printed, with samples obtained with the fluid resin being poured on PVS molds for further light activation in the post-curing process), and subdivided into 2 groups according to the post-curing method: VG (Valo Grand, Ultradent Products) for 120 s and PC (Procure 2, SprintRay). Bar-shaped samples were used to evaluate the flexural strength 24 h after storage in distilled water at 37 °C using a universal testing machine.

Remimazolam and Its Place in the Current Landscape of Procedural Sedation and General Anesthesia.

Remimazolam was derived from its parent compound by adding an ester linkage into its structure so that the drug becomes a substrate for ester metabolism. As a result, it undergoes organ-independent ester hydrolysis, although the clinical benefits in terms of shorter recovery are not uniformly observed in clinical practice. Remimazolam is mainly tested in procedural sedation.

Acceptance of Behavior Guidance Techniques in Pediatric Dentistry Between American and Colombian Parents.

To compare the degree of acceptance of behavior guidance techniques (BGT) in pediatric dentistry between American and Colombian parents. American parents (n=150) and Colombian parents (n=150) of children between three and 12 years of age undergoing pediatric dental treatment participated in this multicenter cross-sectional study. Parents viewed a video depicting 10 BGTs approved by the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and rated their acceptance on a visual analog scale.

Estimated Carbon Emissions Associated With Dental Treatment For Early Childhood Caries.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the environmental impact of travel and anesthetic gas emissions associated with treating early childhood caries at a single institution. Outpatient preventive, treatment, and modeled general anesthesia (GA) cases in children 71 months old and younger were included in this retrospective chart review. The main outcomes were kilograms of carbon dioxide equivalents (kgCO₂e) for travel- and anesthetic gas-related emissions.

Patient management with Head and Neck tumors-A nationwide data collection in oral and maxillofacial surgery.

Introduction: This study analyzed oncologic patient management from initial tumor diagnosis to tumor follow-up in oral and maxillofacial surgery (OMFS) in Germany.

Material And Methods: A dynamic online questionnaire with a total of 44 questions was used to generate general and specific data regarding oncologic patient management with head and neck malignancies, supportive care, and (pre-) rehabilitation from initial tumor diagnosis to tumor follow-up and head and neck cancer center (HNCC) structures in OMFS in Germany. The questionnaire was sent to 81 OMFS departments affiliated with the German-Austrian-Swiss Working Group for Tumors of the Jaw and Facial Region (DÖSAK) and the German Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (DGMKG).

Non-pharmacological interventions targeting mobility among people with advanced cancer: a systematic review.

Purpose: To synthesise evidence evaluating non-pharmacological interventions targeting mobility among people with advanced cancer, considering the type, efficacy and contextual factors that may influence outcome.

Methods: Systematic review of studies of non-pharmacological interventions in adults (≥ 18 years) with advanced (stage III-IV) cancer, and assessing mobility using clinical or patient-reported outcome measures. Searches were conducted across three electronic databases (MEDLINE, EMBASE and CINAHL) up to June 2024.

Implementation of integrated care for type 2 diabetes Mellitus and Periodontitis in Germany: study protocol for a practice-based and cluster-randomized trial.

Background: Type 2 Diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and periodontitis share common risk factors and influence one another. However, primary care and oral health care continue to operate separate from each other and fail to synchronize care for patients with T2DM and periodontitis. The purpose of this practice-based trial is to evaluate the implementation of a new integrated care pathway for patients with T2DM and periodontitis.

The influence factors on pit and fissure sealing behavior of 12-year-old children: a cross-sectional study in Zhejiang, China.

Background: In the 21st century, dental caries remains a global burden, particularly severely affecting the growth and quality of life of 12-year-old children. Fortunately, pit and fissure sealing (PFS) procedures can effectively prevent molars from caries. Hence, this study focused on the relationship between PFS and oral epidemiological factors in 12-year-old children.

Objective: This article puts forward consensus recommendations from PROSEC North America regarding single indirect restorations made from ceramic and nonmetallic biomaterials in posterior teeth.

Overview: The consensus process involved a multidisciplinary panel and three consensus workshops. A systematic literature review was conducted across five databases to gather evidence.

Are we adequately managing the oral health needs of children: a survey of the experience of general dentists and self-assessed confidence in pediatric dentistry.

Childhood caries is a public health problem with a significant burden on the community. The specialist dental workforce cannot adequately manage all treatment needs in children. Therefore, the general dental community remains critical in delivering care to children.

Knowledge, attitudes, and practice of general pediatricians and pediatric subspecialists towards oral health in children: a survey in Turkey.

This study aimed to evaluate the level of knowledge, attitudes, and practices of general pediatricians (GPs) and pediatric subspecialists (PSs) practicing in Turkey toward oral health in children. A national sample of 642 pediatricians who attended the Turkish National Pediatrics Congress completed a survey consisting of 36 questions. The results are segmented based on sex, years of experience, and whether the pediatrician was a general pediatrician or pediatric subspecialist.

Effect of game-based teaching on the oral health of children: a systematic review of randomised control trials.

Poor oral health during childhood can lead to various oral diseases and have long-term implications for dental health. Innovative and engaging oral health educational approaches such as game-based teaching have emerged as a promising modality for health education. This systematic review examined the effectiveness of game-based teaching methods on the oral health of children (4-12 yrs).

Endo-Perio Lesions and Dentists' Treatment Approach: A Survey.

BACKGROUND Endo-perio lesions are a great challenge for dentists. The aim of this study was to evaluate the treatment approach of dental practitioners to endo-perio lesions by considering the current endo-perio classification. MATERIAL AND METHODS An online survey was prepared, consisting of questions about the treatment approach to 3 simulated cases with endo-perio lesions, shown on periapical radiography.

From data to practice: brain meningioma treatment in elderly patients - a survey of the Italian Society of Neurosurgery (SINch®) and systematic review and meta-analysis.

The management of meningioma in elderly patients (MEP) presents a complex and evolving challenge. Data available offer conflicting information on treatment options and complications. This survey aimed to examine the current approach to MEP, comparing the national profile to data in the current literature.

Macroglossia in endocrine and metabolic disorders: current evidence, perspectives and challenges.

Macroglossia is an uncommon condition characterized by chronic, painless and abnormal enlargement of the tongue. A multitude of medical conditions can cause macroglossia. Major endocrine and metabolic disorders associated with macroglossia include genetic, congenital and acquired conditions, such as mucopolysaccharidoses; acquired and congenital hypothyroidism and myxedema; transient neonatal diabetes mellitus; acromegaly and amyloidosis.

Knowledge and Awareness of the orthodontic triage and its uses among dental healthcare professionals - a cross-sectional study.

Introduction: In orthodontics, the triage system is used to assess the preadolescents to rule out interventions needed earlier and to assess the nature of orthodontic problems as complex or moderate. The objective of this study was to determine the knowledge and awareness of orthodontic triage and its uses among dental healthcare professionals (DHCP).

Materials And Methods: A triage awareness questionnaire (TAQ) was formulated and validated as reliable by a panel of five orthodontic specialists which was then circulated online among 400 DHCP.

Variation in dentist participation between dental medicaid managed care organizations.

Objectives: Dentists' Medicaid participation is a critical factor affecting dental care access for Medicaid beneficiaries. An important gap in existing literature is the variation in participation across Medicaid dental Managed Care Organizations (MCOs) in states with more than one. This study examined the variation in participation overall and in predictors of dentist participation between two MCOs in Iowa's Dental Medicaid program.

Competency assessment in pediatric dental practice: A study on recent dental graduates in integrated curriculum.

Objectives: This study aimed to investigate the relationship between various independent variables, such as cumulative grade point average (CGPA), socio-economic backgrounds, anxiety levels, and the self-rated competency levels, across six domains outlined by the American Dental Education Association (ADEA) of recently graduating dental students during pediatric patient care.

Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted at the College of Dentistry, Jouf University, Saudi Arabia. It included 74 participants (37 final-year dental students and 37 dental interns).
