Efficacy and safety of elobixibat in combination with or switched from conventional treatments of chronic constipation: A retrospective observational study.

Background And Aim: Elobixibat is a triple mode of action laxative that increases water secretion into the colon, promotes colonic motility, and reestablishes the defecation desire. This study aims to evaluate the effectivity and safety of elobixibat in chronic constipation (CC) patients refractory to conventional laxatives.

Methods: A single-center retrospective observational study was conducted in refractory CC patients diagnosed according to the Rome IV criteria and received elobixibat between April 2018 and June 2022 at Osaka Saiseikai Nakatsu Hospital.

Nodular hepatic lesion mimicking gallbladder carcinoma in myeloma.

An 81-year-old man was diagnosed with nodular hepatic lesion of extramedullary plasmacytoma with the absence of FDG uptake. Doppler ultrasonography showed pulsations and abundant blood flow signals within the tumor. The blood flow was temporally reduced after daratumumab-based induction therapy; however, the tumor rapidly re-expanded with blood reflow.

Cross-wired metal stents for endoscopic bilateral stent-in-stent deployment in malignant hilar biliary obstruction: A multicenter, single-arm, prospective study.

Objectives: The endoscopic bilateral stent-in-stent (SIS) deployment is a challenging procedure. Such difficulty is mainly caused by sticking of the tip of the delivery sheath into the self-expandable metal stents (SEMSs) mesh, requiring an additional dilating procedure. Herein, we assessed the clinical results of using cross-wired metal stent for endoscopic bilateral SIS deployment (BONASTENT M-Hilar) in patients with malignant hilar biliary obstruction (MHBO) in both high-volume and non-high-volume centers.

Feasibility of the lidocaine injection method during esophageal endoscopic submucosal dissection.

Background And Aim: Esophageal endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) is often technically difficult due to intraoperative body movements. The level of sedation can be increased to suppress body movements, but this may not be successful in all cases. Using local analgesics for submucosal injection during ESD may aid in conscious sedation.
