Background: Observing eye movements during episodic vertigo attacks is crucial for accurately diagnosing vestibular disorders. In clinical practice, many cases lack observable symptoms or clear findings during outpatient examinations, leading to diagnostic challenges. An accurate diagnosis is essential for timely treatment, as conditions such as benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV), Ménière's disease, and vestibular migraine require different therapeutic approaches.

Identification of age-related metabolomic signatures in vascular tissues.

Biochem Biophys Res Commun

March 2025

Department of Ophthalmology, Shanghai General Hospital, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, Shanghai, 200080, China. Electronic address:

Vascular aging contributes to the morbidity and mortality in older individuals, closely linked to an imbalance between energy consumption and production. Despite its importance, our understanding of how aging affects vascular metabolism and leads to vascular diseases remains limited. In this study, we explored the metabolomic characteristics of vascular aging by analyzing aortic tissues from young and old mice through untargeted metabolomic analysis using ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (UHPLC-MS/MS).

Background: In many countries where hospitals are funded by a prospective payment scheme based on Diagnosis Related Groups (DRG), two risks may arise whenever legitimate extra costs are not considered: patient selection and/or lower care quality. We aimed to analyse determinants of an increased length of stay (LOS) used as a proxy for costs, in major head and neck cancer surgery.

Methods: We selected all hospitalisations in France between 2015 and 2021 classified in the DRG « Major head and neck surgery », with a main diagnosis of cancer.
