Objective: This study investigated whether attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) has an olfactory dysfunction and, if so, the effect of methylphenidate on this condition.

Methods: The "Sniffin" Sticks Test and a questionnaire were applied to 50 children with ADHD and 50 healthy children as the control group before and after being treated with methylphenidate.

Results: There was a statistical difference between ADHD and control groups in odor sensitivity, odor discrimination skills, and odor identification tests ( < .

Whiplash Associated Disorders (WAD) represents a chronic post-traumatic pain syndrome from indirect flexion-extension trauma to the neck. The condition exhibits significant variability among affected individuals and can involve numerous secondary symptoms, including but not limited to myalgia, central sensitization, migraines, photophobia, jaw pain, dysphagia, joint stiffness, and tinnitus, while significant breathing problems are not commonly associated with or prominently considered in WAD. Herein, we present the diagnosis and successful surgical treatment of severe respiratory dysfunction and staccato speech in a patient with WAD, who over a period of more than ten years underwent multiple spirometry evaluations for breathing difficulties that correlated with the severity of neck pain.

Purpose: To estimate the pattern of ocular manifestations, as observed clinically and radiologically, and associated risk factors in cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)-related rhino-orbital cerebral mucormycosis (ROCM) during the second wave at presentation to the hospital in northern India.

Materials And Methods: A total of 35 patients of ROCM associated with active cases of COVID-19 or recovered cases of COVID-19 presenting to the Ophthalmology outpatient department or admitted in the COVID ward of the hospital with clinical features suggestive of ROCM. They were confirmed as mucormycosis on KOH and fungal cultures of nasal scrapings and histopathology of debrided tissue.

Deregulation of Exosomal miR-17, miR-20a and TGFBR2 in Head and Neck Cancer Patients.

Technol Cancer Res Treat

February 2025

Cancer Genetics & Epigenetics Research Group, Department of Biosciences, COMSATS University Islamabad, Islamabad, Pakistan.

Exosomes play significant roles in transferring cargo materials like proteins, RNAs (including miRNAs), and DNA. However, the role of serum exosome shuttled RNAs and miRNAs in head and neck cancer (HNC) remains unclear. This study assessed the diagnostic and prognostic significance of exosomal , , and in HNC patients.

Phosphatidylserine as a tumor target for CAR-T cell therapy.

J Immunother Cancer

February 2025

Program of Immunology and Inmunoterapy, CIMA Universidad de Navarra, Pamplona, Spain.

Background: Phosphatidylserine (PS) exposed on apoptotic cells promotes immune clearance of dead cells without inducing inflammation. Conversely, PS exposure on live tumor cells promotes an immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment that hinders antitumor immune responses. After confirming elevated PS levels in various tumor cell lines and cancer tissues, we aimed to investigate its potential as a target antigen for chimeric antigen receptor T cell (CAR-T) therapy.

Introduction: Efficient and accurate medical documentation ensures patient safety, continuity of care, and clinician satisfaction. Speech recognition technology has emerged as a promising alternative to traditional documentation methods, potentially reducing administrative burden and improving workflow efficiency. However, concerns about accuracy, consistency, and clinical adoption remain significant barriers to its integration into medical practice.

Introduction: Menière's disease (MD) is a multifactorial disease characterised by recurring vertigo, tinnitus and fluctuating sensorineural hearing loss as typical clinical symptoms. For patients with MD with poor response to non-invasive treatments, it is recommended to use intratympanic gentamicin treatment. The destruction of vestibular organs by gentamicin may cause residual vestibular symptoms, notably unsteadiness.

Radiother Oncol

February 2025

Centre François Baclesse, Comprehensive Cancer Center, Caen, France; Laboratoire de physique Corpusculaire IN2P3/ENSICAEN/CNRS UMR 6534, Normandie Université, Caen France.

Background: Sinonasal and skull base tumor surgery-related morbidity has been reduced by the use of endoscopic endonasal skull base surgery (EESBS). Postoperative radiation therapy (poRT) requires precise definition of target volumes. To enhance the accuracy of poRT planning, histological and radiological correlations are necessary to locate the tumor attachment on poRT CT scans.

Temporal bone imaging has historically suffered from spatial resolution issues because the spatial resolution of conventional high-resolution computed tomography (CT) is 0.5 mm, while the smallest structure of the middle ear, the stapes, has very thin components, as thin as 0.19 mm, and small structures, such as small channels containing nerves and arteries, have historically been beyond its spatial resolution.

Remission in chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP).

Rhinology

February 2025

Department of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery, University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, NC, USA.

Remission has recently been proposed as the new goal of care in CRSwNP or Nasal Polyp Syndrome by the European Forum for Research and Education in Allergy and Airway Diseases / European Position Paper on Rhinosinusitis and Nasal Polyps (EUFOREA/EPOS) (1,2) as well as by global leaders in Rhinology (3). In CRSwNP, remission is defined as a prolonged state of control, without bothersome symptoms reported by the patient for at least 12 months, without the need for either oral corticosteroids or endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS), and without endoscopic signs of active disease (1). This new goal of care is to be encouraged by the ENT community and CRSwNP patients as persistent symptoms unalleviated by historical approaches (4,5) can be reduced by new therapies including biologics.

Background: In patients with a beta-lactam antibiotic (BA) allergy label, avoidance of the whole group of BAs leads to displacement of first-line therapies potentially influencing patient outcomes and antimicrobial resistance. Studies previously published on BA cross-reactivity use different sets of BA and seem to contain conflicting recommendations on safe BA alternatives in case of (suspected) BA allergy.

Methods: The objectives were (i) to identify discrepancies between studies regarding cross-allergy in BA and (ii) to identify research gaps.
