Background: Syphilis is the third most frequent bacterial sexually transmitted disease globally. Untreated syphilis in a pregnant woman may results in a transmission of the infection to the foetus resulting in congenital syphilis.
Aim: To characterise females treated for syphilis in Bialystok, north-east Poland, in years 2016-2020.
Introduction: Sexually-transmitted infections (STIs) are serious public health problem, being acquired by more than 1 million people every day worldwide.
Objective: Assess the knowledge, attitudes, risky behaviors and preventive practices related to STIs among medical and non-medical faculties students from Bialystok.
Materials And Methods: In 2018 an original anonymous survey was carried among 168 subjects from medical and 142 from non-medical universities.

Fibroblast growth factors 21 and 23 are used as markers of cardiometabolic disorders which are common comorbidities in psoriasis. The study aimed to evaluate the serum level of these factors in psoriatic patients and elucidate the possible interplay between disease activity, metabolic or inflammatory parameters, and systemic treatment. A total of 33 patients with active plaque-type psoriasis and 11 healthy controls were enrolled in the study.

Psoriasis is a systemic disease associated with metabolic syndrome and cardiometabolic diseases. Adipocyte fatty acid-binding protein (A-FABP, FABP4) is a relevant mediator of lipid metabolism and several comorbidities development. Aim of the study was to explore the possible role of FABP4 in psoriasis and assess its relationship with disease activity, inflammation or metabolic disturbances, and impact of systemic treatment.

Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) demonstrating pro-angiogenic activity promote new blood vessel formation in psoriatic lesions. The aim of this study was to evaluate the serum concentrations of VEGF, its soluble receptors (sVEGF R1 and R2) and VEGF content in scales of patients with psoriasis. To analyze possible association with activity of the disease, serum and scales from plaques were collected from 59 patients with exacerbated chronic plaque-type psoriasis.
