Reliability and validity of a Japanese version of the Brunnsviken Brief Quality of Life Scale.

Aim: The Brunnsviken Brief Quality of Life Scale (BBQ) is a popular quality of life measure, indexing satisfaction with and importance of six empirically selected life domains. Whether these domains hold cross-cultural validity remains largely unexplored. The current study developed and psychometrically validated a Japanese version of the BBQ (BBQ-J).

First Clinicogenetic Description of Parkinson's Disease Related to Mutation S107L.

Background: Mutations in the glucocerebrosidase gene () are a common genetic risk factor for Parkinson's disease (PD). Mutations in the N-terminus part of are less commonly found in association with PD than those in the C-terminus. Phenotypic characterization of -related PD has been challenging, in part attributed to differential impact of distinct mutations.

Age-specific birth rates in women with epilepsy: a population-based study.

Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate birth rates and use of hormonal contraception in different age groups among women with epilepsy (WWE) in comparison to women without epilepsy.

Materials And Methods: Demographic data and medical information on more than 25,000 pregnant women (40,000 births), representing 95% of all pregnancies in Oppland County, Norway, were registered in the Oppland Perinatal Database in the period 1989-2011. Data were analyzed with respect to epilepsy diagnoses, and 176 women with a validated epilepsy diagnosis (303 pregnancies) were identified.

Classification of the epilepsies: New concepts for discussion and debate-Special report of the ILAE Classification Task Force of the Commission for Classification and Terminology.

The ILAE Task Force on Classification presents a road map for the development of an updated, relevant classification of the epilepsies. Our objective is to explain the process to date and the plan moving forward as well as to invite further discussion about the newly proposed terms and concepts. Here, we present our response to feedback about the 2010 Organization of the Epilepsies and clarify the reintroduction of the word "classification" to map out a framework for epilepsy diagnosis.
