Neuropathology of Perry Syndrome: Evidence of Medullary and Hypothalamic Involvement.

Background: Perry syndrome is a rare genetic parkinsonian disorder with TAR DNA binding protein 43 (TDP-43) pathology clinically presenting with parkinsonism, neuropsychiatric features, weight loss, and central hypoventilation. As respiratory complications are often the cause of death, studies likely show the early stage of the neurodegenerative process. Because of the rarity of this condition, few studies exist, and each case provides insight into pathological findings in this neurodegenerative condition.

Canadian Consensus Conference on Diagnosis and Treatment of Dementia (CCCDTD)5: Guidelines for management of vascular cognitive impairment.

Introduction: Vascular disease is a common cause of dementia, and often coexists with other brain pathologies such as Alzheimer's disease to cause mixed dementia. Many of the risk factors for vascular disease are treatable. Our objective was to review evidence for diagnosis and treatment of vascular cognitive impairment (VCI) to issue recommendations to clinicians.

Down the Stairs Dystonia-A Novel Task-Specific Focal Isolated Syndrome.

Adult-onset, task-specific dystonia of the lower limb is a rare occurrence. In this report, the authors present 6 cases of task-specific dystonia manifested only when going down the stairs. These patients were seen by 6 different neurologists from across Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, and all videos were reviewed by 1 movement disorders specialist who made the final diagnosis.
