The impact of dietary and sleep rhythms on blood pressure in children and adolescents: a cross-sectional study.

Evidence about the relationship between meal and sleep time and CVD in children is scarce. The aims of this study were to describe the association between life rhythm patterns and blood pressure in children. This research was conducted among 5,608 children aged 6 to 15 years old in Chongqing and Sichuan provinces in 2021 and 2022.

Multi-class glioma segmentation on real-world data with missing MRI sequences: comparison of three deep learning algorithms.

This study tests the generalisability of three Brain Tumor Segmentation (BraTS) challenge models using a multi-center dataset of varying image quality and incomplete MRI datasets. In this retrospective study, DeepMedic, no-new-Unet (nn-Unet), and NVIDIA-net (nv-Net) were trained and tested using manual segmentations from preoperative MRI of glioblastoma (GBM) and low-grade gliomas (LGG) from the BraTS 2021 dataset (1251 in total), in addition to 275 GBM and 205 LGG acquired clinically across 12 hospitals worldwide. Data was split into 80% training, 5% validation, and 15% internal test data.

Segmentation of glioblastomas in early post-operative multi-modal MRI with deep neural networks.

Extent of resection after surgery is one of the main prognostic factors for patients diagnosed with glioblastoma. To achieve this, accurate segmentation and classification of residual tumor from post-operative MR images is essential. The current standard method for estimating it is subject to high inter- and intra-rater variability, and an automated method for segmentation of residual tumor in early post-operative MRI could lead to a more accurate estimation of extent of resection.

Does total omentectomy prevent peritoneal seeding for advanced gastric cancer with serosal invasion?

Background: Radical gastrectomy is composed of gastrectomy, lymph node dissection, and omentectomy. Total omentectomy (TO) is expected to reduce the incidence of peritoneal recurrence. We aimed to investigate the necessity of TO for advanced gastric cancer (AGC) with serosal invasion.

Prevalence and social determinants of periodontal disease in Colombian pregnant women.

Objective: The objective of the study was to identify the prevalence of periodontal disease in pregnant women in the Colombian population and its association with social determinants and medical history based on data from the Fourth National Oral Health Survey (ENSAB IV).

Methods: A total of 1012 pregnant women from different areas of Colombia were evaluated. A periodontal evaluation was performed using a North Carolina periodontal probe.

Impact of Comorbid Oppositional Defiant Disorder on the Clinical and Neuropsychological Characteristics of Korean Children With Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder.

Objective: The aim of the present study was to investigate the influence of comorbid oppositional defiant disorder (ODD) on clinical features and neuropsychological profiles of children with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

Methods: We divided the participants into three groups: the ADHD with ODD (ADHD/ODD) (n=36), ADHD without ODD (ADHD/noODD) (n=307), and control groups (n=128). Parents of the participants completed the ADHD Rating Scale, Social Responsiveness Scale (SRS), Korean Personality Rating Scale for Children (K-PRC), and 10-item mania scale from the Parent General Behavior Inventory (P-GBI-10M).

Superficial Inferior Epigastric Artery Flap: Vascular Pattern and Territory Across the Midline.

Background:  Superficial inferior epigastric artery (SIEA) flap offers a significant advantage of lower donor site morbidity over other abdominal-based flaps for breast reconstruction. However, the inconsistent anatomy and territory across the midline remains a major issue. This study aimed to investigate the SIEA and determine its pattern and territory across the midline.

Prevalence of dental caries in pregnant Colombian women and its associated factors.

Objective: To identify the prevalence of dental caries in pregnant women in the Colombian population and its association with the medical history and social determinants, based on data from the fourth National Oral Health Survey (ENSAB IV).

Materials And Methods: A total of 1,047 pregnant women from different areas of Colombia were evaluated. A dental evaluation was performed using a flat oral mirror and blunt-tipped probe (World Health Organization, 2007).

The impact after 20 years of an early detection program for severe retinopathy of prematurity in a Latin American city.

Purpose: To evaluate the effects of long-standing early detection program in the incidence and trends of severe retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) in Cali, Colombia.

Methods: This was a retrospective cohort study of infants included in an ROP prevention, early detection, and prompt treatment program, from January 01, 2002, to December 31, 2021 (20 years). Infants with gestational age (GA) <37 weeks or birth weight (BW) <2000 g and those with known ROP risk factors were screened.

Proliferative hepatocellular carcinomas in cirrhosis: patient outcomes of LI-RADS category 4/5 and category M.

Objectives: This study aimed to compare the utility of the Psychoeducational Profile-Revised (PEP-R), Korean Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence, Fourth Edition (K-WPPSI-IV), and Vineland Adaptive Behavior Scale, Second Edition (VABS-II) for evaluating developmental disabilities (DD) in preschool children. Additionally, we examined the correlations between the PEP-R, KWPPSI- IV, and VABS-II.

Background: No previous systematic review or meta-analysis has evaluated the effect of optimal time-restricted eating (TRE) interventions on cardiovascular (CVD) risk factors. This meta-analysis aimed to illustrate the effect of a suitable TRE on CVD risk factors.

Methods: A systematic review was performed to identify trials reporting the effects of TRE, relative to non-diet controls, on CVD risk factors in humans.

Rituximab for the treatment of relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis in Thailand: an economic evaluation and budget impact analysis.

Background: Multiple sclerosis is an inflammatory demyelination process in the central nervous system (CNS) causing neurological disability and poor quality of life. Currently, Thai Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved disease-modifying therapy is costly, and most patients with multiple sclerosis are ineligible for treatment in Thailand as previous studies have challenged its cost-effectiveness. Off-label use of rituximab is inexpensive and highly effective in treating multiple sclerosis, but evidence of its cost-effectiveness in Thailand is yet to be collected.

Treatment Outcomes of Patients With Ruptured Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms.

Background: Ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm (rAAA) is a serious complication of abdominal aortic aneurysm associated with high operative mortality and morbidity rates. The present study evaluated the perioperative and long-term outcomes of Korean patients with rAAA based on national health insurance claims data.

Methods: The National Health Insurance Service (NHIS) database was searched retrospectively to identify patients with rAAA who underwent endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) and open surgical repair (OSR) from 2009 to 2018.

Background: Palliative care aims to improve the quality of life of people with life-limiting illness and their families by addressing physical, psychological, social and spiritual suffering. Allied Health and Social Care Professionals (AHSCP) are key to delivering comprehensive, high quality palliative care. In recent years, Colombia has developed changes in the legal, and regulatory framework for access to palliative care but barriers and facilitators to palliative care for patients with non-curable cancer have not been explored from the perspective of AHSCP.

The objective of this study was to assess the risk of autoimmune diseases in patients with newly diagnosed psoriatic disease. Using the Korean National Health Insurance Service database, patients with newly diagnosed psoriatic disease between 2007 and 2019 were included.

Background: Coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA) enables improved diagnosis of subclinical, coronary artery disease (CAD). This retrospective cohort study investigated the association between different treatment modalities guided by CCTA and the prevention of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACEs) in patients with stable CAD.

Despite the availability of three network meta-analyses (NMA) examining the efficacy, treatment completion, and adverse events associated with all latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) treatments, there is currently no evidence to support the notion that the benefits of these treatments outweigh the potential risks. This NMA aimed to conduct a comprehensive comparison and update of the efficacy, treatment completion rates and adverse events associated with recommended treatment options for LTBI for individuals with confirmed LTBI, as outlined in the 2020 World Health Organization (WHO) Consolidated Guidelines for TB preventive treatment. A comprehensive search of the MEDLINE and Scopus databases was conducted until April 2023.

Age- and Sex-Specific Disparities in Outcomes After Ticagrelor Versus Clopidogrel in East Asian Patients.

It is unknown whether there are age- and gender-related differences in the safety and efficacy of potent P2Y12 inhibitors in East Asian populations with a different bleeding or ischemic propensity. Using data from the TICAKOREA (Ticagrelor Versus Clopidogrel in Asian/Korean Patients with ACS Intended for Invasive Management) trial comparing ticagrelor versus clopidogrel for 800 Korean patients with acute coronary syndrome, the safety and efficacy outcomes were compared according to age (<75 vs ≥75 years) and gender (men vs women). The primary bleeding end point was clinically significant bleeding, and the primary ischemic end point was a major adverse cardiovascular event (MACE) at 12 months.
