Matrix Metalloproteinases (MMPs), which are endopeptidase reliant on zinc, are low in embryonic tissues but increases in response to a variety of physiological stimulus and pathological stresses. Neuro-glial cells, endothelial cells, fibroblasts, and leucocytes secrete MMPs, which cleave extracellular matrix proteins in a time-dependent manner. MMPs affect synaptic plasticity and the development of short-term memory by controlling the size, shape, and excitatory synapses' function through the lateral diffusion of receptors.

Menopause weakens the brain's structural integrity and increases its susceptibility to a range of degenerative and mental illnesses. 17β estradiol (17βE2) exhibits potent neuroprotective properties. Exogenous estrogen supplementation provides neuroprotection, but the findings presented by the Million Women Study (MWS) and the Women's Health Initiative (WHI), as well as the increased risk of endometrial cancer, breast cancer and venous thromboembolism associated with estrogen use, have cast doubt on its clinical use for neurological disorders.

Objectives: Aim of this study was to explore the immune-related lncRNAs having prognostic role and establishing risk score model for better prognosis and immunotherapeutic coherence for esophageal cancer (EC) patients.
Methods: To determine the role of immune-related lncRNAs in EC, we analyzed the RNA-seq expression data of 162 EC patients and 11 non-cancerous individuals and their clinically relevant information from the cancer genome atlas (TCGA) database. Bioinformatic and statistical analysis such as Differential expression analysis, co-expression analysis, Kaplan Meier survival analysis, Cox proportional hazards model, ROC analysis of risk model was employed.

The objective of this article is to evaluate the salivary levels of tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), interferon-gamma (IFN-γ), interleukin-2 (IL-2), and IL-10 in patients with active psoriasis and compare them with those in healthy control subjects. This study included 60 subjects who were clinically diagnosed cases with active psoriasis (categorized further into 33 mild to moderate and 27 severe cases based on the Psoriasis Area Severity Index score) and 60 age- and gender-matched healthy control subjects. Levels of TNF-α, IFN-γ, IL-2, and IL-10 in the unstimulated saliva of subjects were determined via enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (BT Lab).

The exploration of targeted therapy has proven to be a highly promising avenue in the realm of drug development research. The human body generates a substantial amount of free radicals during metabolic processes, and if not promptly eliminated, these free radicals can lead to oxidative stress, disrupting homeostasis and potentially contributing to chronic diseases and cancers. Before the development of contemporary medicine with synthetic pharmaceuticals and antioxidants, there was a long-standing practice of employing raw, natural ingredients to cure a variety of illnesses.

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is an intricate metabolic disorder marked by persistent hyperglycemia, arising from disruptions in glucose metabolism, with two main forms, type 1 and type 2, involving distinct etiologies affecting β-cell destruction or insulin levels and sensitivity. The islets of Langerhans, particularly β-cells and α-cells, play a pivotal role in glucose regulation, and both DM types lead to severe complications, including retinopathy, nephropathy, and neuropathy. Plant-derived anthocyanins, rich in anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, show promise in mitigating DM-related complications, providing a potential avenue for prevention and treatment.

Rising cases of drug resistance of mycobacterium species are one of the biggest concerns when the goal is to eradicate TB (Tuberculosis) from the world by the year 2030. A limited number of treatment options as MTB (Mycobacterium tuberculosis) is getting resistant to anti-mycobacterial drugs either due to a patient's non-compliance towards treatment regimen or if a patient is infected by drug-resistant species of MTB. This review aims to assess the effectiveness of pretomanid, a recently approved drug for the treatment of extensively drug-resistant TB.
