Objectives: To systematically assess the literature and report on (1) the frequency of occurrence of buccal soft tissue dehiscence (BSTD) at implants, (2) factors associated with the occurrence of BSTD and (3) treatment outcomes of reconstructive therapy for the coverage of BSTD.

Materials And Methods: Two systematic reviews addressing focused questions related to implant BSTD occurrence, associated factors and the treatment outcomes of BSTD coverage served as the basis for group discussions and the consensus statements. The main findings of the systematic reviews, consensus statements and implications for clinical practice and for future research were formulated within group 3 and were further discussed and reached final approval within the plenary session.

Mutations in the sodium-activated potassium channel gene have been associated with nonlesional sleep-related hypermotor epilepsy (SHE). We report the co-occurrence of mild malformation of cortical development (mMCD) and mutations in four patients with SHE. Focal cortical dysplasia type I was neuropathologically diagnosed after epilepsy surgery in three unrelated MRI-negative patients, periventricular nodular heterotopia was detected in one patient by MRI.

Objective: Despite the critical importance of pathologically confirmed samples for biomarker validation, only a few studies have correlated CSF A42 values in vivo with postmortem Alzheimer's disease (AD) pathology, while none evaluated the CSF A42/A40 ratio. We compared CSF A42 and A42/A40 ratio as biomarkers predicting AD neuropathological changes in patients with a short interval between lumbar puncture and death.

Methods: We measured CSF A40 and A42 and assessed AD pathology in 211 subjects with rapidly progressive dementia (RPD) and a definite postmortem diagnosis of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease ( = 159), AD ( = 12), dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB,  = 4), AD/DLB mixed pathologies ( = 5), and various other pathologies ( = 31).

Mitochondria have been considered for long time as important determinants of cell aging because of their role in the production of reactive oxygen species. In this study we investigated the impact of mitochondrial metabolism and biology as determinants of successful aging in primary cultures of fibroblasts isolated from the skin of long living individuals (LLI) (about 100 years old) compared with those from young (about 27 years old) and old (about 75 years old) subjects. We observed that fibroblasts from LLI displayed significantly lower complex I-driven ATP synthesis and higher production of H2O2 in comparison with old subjects.
