Unlabelled: Pinto bean () is one of the leading market classes of dry beans that is most affected by postharvest seed coat darkening. The process of seed darkening poses a challenge for bean producers and vendors as they encounter significant losses in crop value due to decreased consumer preference for darker beans. Here, we identified a novel allele of the gene, , responsible for the slow darkening seed coat in pintos, and identified trait-specific sequence polymorphisms which are utilized for the development of new gene-specific molecular markers for breeding.

Offspring traits are greatly influenced by maternal effects, and these maternal effects may provide an important pathway through which populations can adapt to changing thermal environments. We investigated the effect of egg size on the among- and within-population variation in early life history traits among introduced Great Lakes Chinook salmon () populations under varying thermal conditions. We reared Chinook salmon from three populations in a common-garden hatchery study at 6.

Identification of landscape features that correlate with genetic structure permits understanding of factors that may influence gene flow in a species. Comparing effects of the landscape on a parasite and host provides potential insights into parasite-host ecology. We compared fine-scale spatial genetic structure between big brown bats () and their cimicid ectoparasite (; class Insecta) in the lower Great Lakes region of the United States, in an area of about 160,000 km.
