Anaphylaxis is a serious and potentially fatal allergic reaction; this study aimed to explore its frequency and the characteristics of biphasic reactions, which can occur in some patients after initial anaphylaxis.
The research analyzed data from 264,689 pediatric patients between 2010 and 2017, finding that 353 were hospitalized for anaphylaxis, with 6 of those cases (1.7%) exhibiting biphasic reactions.
The study highlighted the need for careful monitoring after anaphylaxis, as biphasic reactions occurred frequently, with a median onset time of around 5.9 hours after the initial reaction.
