Background: Tc-Sestamibi Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography/Computed Tomography (SPECT/CT) contributes to the non-invasive differentiation of renal oncocytoma (RO) from renal cell carcinoma (RCC) by characterising renal tumours as Sestamibi positive or Sestamibi negative regarding their Tc-Sestamibi uptake compared to the non-tumoral renal parenchyma.

Purpose: To determine whether Tc- Sestamibi uptake in renal tumour and the non-tumoral renal parenchyma measured using Standard Uptake Value (SUV) SPECT, has a beneficial role in differentiating RO from RCC.

Molecular adsorbent recirculating system treatment in patients with post-hepatectomy liver failure: Long-term results of a pilot study.

Background: Post-hepatectomy liver failure (PHLF) is the leading cause of postoperative mortality following major liver resection. Between December 2012 and May 2015, 10 consecutive patients with PHLF (according to the Balzan criteria) following major/extended hepatectomy were included in a prospective treatment study with the molecular adsorbent recirculating system (MARS). Sixty- and 90-day mortality rates were 0% and 10%, respectively.

miR-486-5p expression is regulated by DNA methylation in osteosarcoma.

Background: Sex differences are underappreciated in the current understanding of cardiovascular disease (CVD) in association with chronic kidney disease (CKD). A hallmark of CKD is vascular aging that is characterised, amongst others, by; systemic inflammation, microbiota disbalance, oxidative stress, and vascular calcification-features linked to atherosclerosis/arteriosclerosis development. In impedance cardiography (ICG), the detection of dZ/dt signal (ICG) characteristic points, especially the X point, is a crucial step for the calculation of hemodynamic parameters such as stroke volume (SV) and cardiac output (CO). Unfortunately, for beat-to-beat calculations, the accuracy of the detection is affected by the variability of the ICG complex subtypes. Thus, in this work, automated classification of ICG complexes is proposed to support the detection of ICG characteristic points and the extraction of hemodynamic parameters according to several existing subtypes.

Background: The systemic inflammation-based Glasgow Prognostic Score (GPS) and modified GPS (mGPS), as measured by preoperative C-reactive protein (CRP) and albumin, correlate with poor survival in several cancers. This study evaluates the prognostic value of these scores in patients with colorectal liver metastases (CRLM).

To optimize diagnostic workup of the current severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) pandemic, we systematically reviewed neurological and neuroradiological manifestations of SARS-CoV-2 and all other known human coronavirus species (HCoV). Which lessons can we learn? We identified relevant publications (until 26 July 2020) using systematic searches in PubMed, Web of Science, and Ovid EMBASE with predefined search strings. A total of 4571 unique publications were retrieved, out of which 378 publications were selected for in-depth analysis by two raters, including a total of 17549 (out of which were 14418 SARS-CoV-2) patients.

The effect of peritoneal dialysates with low-glucose degradation products on peritoneal membrane morphology is largely unknown, with functional relevancy predominantly derived from experimental studies. To investigate this, we performed automated quantitative histomorphometry and molecular analyses on 256 standardized peritoneal and 172 omental specimens from 56 children with normal renal function, 90 children with end-stage kidney disease at time of catheter insertion, and 82 children undergoing peritoneal dialysis using dialysates with low-glucose degradation products. Follow-up biopsies were obtained from 24 children after a median peritoneal dialysis of 13 months.

Swedish health care is mainly tax-funded, thus providing an environment that should facilitate equal health outcomes in patients, independent of background, socioeconomic status, or health profile.
