Introduction: This study was conducted to determine the effectiveness of coloring activity of circular symmetrical shape with complex patterns, so-called mandala, on anxiety associated with chronic illness in three different ambulatory medical situations (general consultation, psychiatric day hospital, and hemodialysis session).

Methods: Thirty patients were included in three groups and came from three different ambulatory medical situations: a hemodialysis group ( = 10), a psychiatric day hospital group ( = 10), and a nephrology consultation group ( = 10). We asked the patients to fill STAI-S and STAI-T questionnaires before to color complex circular shape with complex patterns, then to fill the STAI-S questionnaire again and a questionnaire on the experience of the activity.

Service de chirurgie pédiatrique, Hôpital des Enfants, Hôpital Universitaire de Limoges, 8 Avenue Dominique Larrey, Limoges Cedex, 87042, France.

Background: The objective of this study was to assess the likelihood of acute appendicitis (AA) in children presenting with abdominal symptoms at the emergency department (ED), based on their prior primary care (PC) consultation history.

Methods: Between February and June 2021, we prospectively enrolled all children presenting at the ED with acute abdominal pain indicative of possible acute appendicitis (AA). Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to evaluate bone mineral density (BMD) and quality in patients with psoriasis (PsO) and psoriatic arthritis (PsA) by comparing them with matched control subjects.
  • Methods involved analyzing bone density through dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) and assessing bone quality using trabecular bone score (TBS) and 3D DXA analysis.
  • Results indicated that while patients with PsA had normal bone parameters, those with PsO showed higher femoral neck BMD but decreased bone texture, suggesting a possible risk for impaired vertebral bone resistance despite no increased risk for hip fractures.

Purpose: Recommendations to improve therapeutics are proposals made by pharmacists during the prescription review process to address suboptimal use of medicines. Recommendations are generated daily as text documents but are rarely reused beyond their primary use to alert prescribers and caregivers. If recommendation data were easier to summarize, they could be used retrospectively to improve safeguards for better prescribing.

  • - The Pharmacovigilance Risk Assessment Committee (PRAC) recommends caution when using Janus kinase inhibitors (JAKi) in older patients or those with high cardiovascular, cancer, or venous thromboembolism risks, favoring alternatives when possible.
  • - A study involving 21 specialists assessed the appropriateness of JAKi through a two-round survey, finding that while initial uncertainty existed, discussions helped clarify and reduce disagreement regarding best practices.
  • - The study highlights the importance of personalized patient evaluations rather than relying solely on regulatory guidelines, emphasizing active management of modifiable health risks and continued concerns over the link between JAKi and cancer risk.

The extent to which the healthy hemiface dynamically contributes to facial synchronization during facial rehabilitation has been largely unstudied. This study compares the synchronization of both hemifaces in severe Bell's palsy patients who either received facial rehabilitation called "Mirror Effect Plus Protocol" (MEPP) or basic counseling. Baseline and 1-year postonset data from 39 patients (19 = MEPP and 20 = basic counseling) were retrospectively analyzed using Emotrics+, a software that generates facial metrics with artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms.
