Quality of life identification by unsupervised cluster analysis: A new approach to modelling the burden of endometriosis.

Background: Symptoms frequently associated with endometriosis affect quality of life (QoL). Our aim investigated the hypothesis that cluster analysis can be used to identify homogeneous phenotyping subgroups of women according to the burden of the endometriosis for their QoL, and then to investigate the phenotype differences observed between these subgroups.

Methods: We developed an anonymous online survey, which received responses from 1,586 French women with endometriosis.

Temporomandibular joint septic arthritis: a report of thirteen cases and a systematic review of the literature.

Introduction: Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) septic arthritis is a rare frequently misdiagnosed condition with non-specific symptoms. We present our experience of thirteen cases of TMJ septic arthritis and perform a systematic review of the literature to collate the multiple characteristics of this condition.

Material And Method: A total of 133 cases of TMJ septic arthritis in humans across 62 studies were analyzed by searching PubMed, Cochrane Library, DOAJ and ClinicalTrials.

According to the World Health Organization, air pollution is responsible for 90 % of deaths in Africa. However, limited data on exposure to air pollution is available, and studies are rare, particularly in French-speaking Africa. This study aims to investigate the impact of air pollution on mortality in 12 French-speaking African countries (Algeria, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Madagascar, Mali, Morocco, Democratic Republic of Congo, Senegal, Tunisia).

Development and validation of a training course on proton pump inhibitor deprescription for general practitioners in a rural continuing medical education program: a pilot study.

Background: Despite being cornerstone medications for managing gastrointestinal disorders, proton pump inhibitors (PPI) have raised concerns due to inappropriate prescribing and overutilization, their potential side effects, and interactions with other medications. General practitioners (GPs) provide long-term patient follow-up and are targets to promote PPI deprescribing to reach the widest possible population. GPs practicing in rural settings encounter unique challenges as their numbers dwindle and their workload increases.

Prediabetes in a French overseas territory: Clinical Characteristics, Risk Factors, and Implications for type 2 diabetes prevention.

Background: People with prediabetes are at high risk of developing type 2 diabetes (T2D). This study evaluates clinical, sociodemographic characteristics, and Finnish Diabetes Risk Score (FINDRISC) of individuals with prediabetes recruited in primary care by their general practitioner (GP) for PREDIABRUN study.

Methods: PREDIABRUN, a prospective cohort study in primary care on Reunion Island, aimed to identify risk factors for developing T2D in 500 adults with prediabetes (18-70 years) between July 2019 and December 2022.

New French height velocity growth charts: An innovative big-data approach based on routine measurements.

Aim: Height velocity is considered a key auxological tool to monitor growth, but updated height velocity growth charts are lacking. We aimed to derive new French height velocity growth charts by using a big-data approach based on routine measurements.

Methods: We extracted all growth data of children aged 1 month-18 years from the electronic medical records of 42 primary care physicians, between 1 January 1990 and 8 February 2018, throughout the French metropolitan territory.

IL-17 inhibitors in axial spondyloarthritis. An overview.

Introduction: The therapeutic armamentarium for spondyloarthritis has expanded considerably in recent years, and there is growing evidence to support the increasing use of IL-17 inhibitors (IL-17i) in axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA).

Areas Covered: This literature review provides an update on the role of IL-17 in the pathogenesis of axSpA, efficacy and safety from clinical trials and real-life studies on the use of IL17i in axSpA. We also review the impact of extra-musculoskeletal manifestations on the decision to treat with IL17i and the efficacy of IL17i on structural progression.

The pipeline of immunomodulatory therapies in polymyalgia rheumatica and giant cell arteritis: A systematic review of clinical trials.

Introduction: The objective of this systematic review was to provide an overview of current developments and potentially available therapeutic options for polymyalgia rheumatic (PMR) and giant cell arteritis (GCA), in the coming years.

Methods: We conducted a systematic review of 17 national and international clinical trial databases for all disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (DMARDs) for PMR and GCA that are already marketed, in clinical development or withdrawn. The search was performed on January 2024, with the keywords "polymyalgia rheumatica" and "giant cell arteritis".

Cultural adaptation and evaluation of the measurement properties of the Facilitator Competency Rubric for clinical simulation facilitators.

Objective: translate and adapt the Facilitator Competency Rubric to the Portuguese language and the Brazilian culture, and analyze the measurement properties.

Method: methodological study that completed the steps of translation, synthesis of translations, back translation, review by a Committee of Experts composed of 7 professionals, testing of the pre-final version with 33 simulation facilitators, and submission to the author of the original instrument. For content validation, the Content Validity Index and the modified Kappa Coefficient were calculated.

Patterns of Pregabalin Users from Substance Abuse Treatment Facilities: Results from the French OPPIDUM Program from 2008 to 2022.

Introduction: In recent years, pregabalin has received growing attention due to its abuse liability. The aim of this study was to further characterize patterns of pregabalin users from substance abuse treatment facilities and detect changes in users profile over the study period.

Methods: The data source was the Observation des Produits Psychotropes Illicites ou Détournés de leur Utilisation Médicamenteuse (OPPIDUM) program, an annual, repeated, cross-sectional, nationwide, multicenter survey that collects consumption data from patients with substance use disorders.

Advanced practice nursing implementation in France: A mixed-method study.

Aim(s): To describe advanced practice nursing (APN) in the French healthcare landscape and to provide insights on how the role is defined and implemented and how the role is perceived by physicians.

Design: A mixed-method approach incorporating qualitative and quantitative data to offer a global understanding of APN implementation in France was used.

Methods: Data were collected through questionnaires and interviews with APNs and physicians in diverse healthcare settings in France.

Therapeutic patient education programs on diabetes in sub-Saharan Africa: A systematic review.

Background: Diabetes is a chronic disease associated with the potential for blindness, kidney failure, heart attacks, strokes, and lower limb amputations. The global prevalence of diabetes is rising, particularly in the sub-Saharan African (SSA) region, where accessing treatment and antidiabetic drugs is complex, leading to challenges in managing the condition. Intentional and structured therapeutic education has demonstrated its ability to enhance health outcomes in diabetes patients.

[Stereotactic radiation therapy for liver tumours].

Liver lesions are common in oncology, and various focal treatments can be used, such as surgery, chemoembolization, radiofrequency, and systemic treatment. However, these treatments are often not feasible for a number of reasons, including the patient's general health or the characteristics of the lesion itself. Additionally, localized relapses may occur after focal treatments.

GPs' practices when prescribing buprenorphine in primary care: A survey among the Sentinelles network.

Introduction: France is a leading country for opioid agonist treatment providing, with a predominance of buprenorphine. General practitioners (GPs) are the main prescribers of buprenorphine, but they seem to be less involved over the last 10 years. This work is the second part of a larger study analysing buprenorphine prescribing among French GPs working in primary care, and aims to describe GPs' practices when prescribing buprenorphine.
