Background: Decisions about stroke prevention strategies in atrial fibrillation (AF) typically balance thromboembolism reduction against increased bleeding from oral anticoagulation therapy (OAC). When determining eligibility for OAC, guidelines recommend calculation of thromboembolic event rates using a validated score such as CHA2DS2-VASc. In contrast, routine calculation of bleeding scores is not recommended, in part because many patient factors associated with an increased risk of bleeding are associated with an even larger increased risk of ischemic stroke.

Background: Simplified approaches to HCV treatment delivery are needed to meet elimination goals. However, the impact of low-touch strategies on individuals at higher risk due to treatment failure or reinfection is unknown. We estimated HCV reinfection rates, and the impact of resistance associated substitutions (RASs) on response in the ACTG A5360 (MINMON) trial.

Background: Traditional approaches for learning anatomy for curvilinear endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) require learners to mentally visualize structures relative to the position of the bronchoscope. Virtual reality (VR) can demonstrate anatomy from the perspective of bronchoscopic tools.
Research Question: Does the use of a VR anatomy trainer for teaching EBUS-associated anatomy improve procedural performance compared to traditional methods?
Study Design And Methods: In this randomized, cross-over study design, subjects studied EBUS-related anatomy during two sequential sessions using a VR trainer and a traditional modality (two-dimensional pictures (2D) or a three-dimensional model (3D)).
Purpose: Increasing CT capacity to keep pace with rising ED demand is critical. The conventional process has inherent drawbacks. We evaluated an off-console automated AI enhanced workflow which moves all final series creation off-console.

Background: The value of routine bedside lung ultrasound (LUS) for predicting patient disposition during visits to the Emergency Department (ED) is difficult to quantify. We hypothesized that a simplified scoring of bedside-acquired LUS images for the triage of acute respiratory symptoms in the ED would be associated with patient disposition.
Methods: For this observational pragmatic study, we reviewed prospectively-collected bedside LUS images from patients presenting to the ED with acute respiratory symptoms.

Backgroud: Staged operations are commonly employed in the management of high-energy tibial plateau fractures (TPF) complicated by acute compartment syndrome (ACS); however, complications, such as nonunion, deep wound infection, and traumatic arthritis, often occur due to severe bone and soft-tissue damage. We aimed to report the radiological and clinical outcomes of staged surgical interventions performed following complete closure of the fasciotomy wound for the treatment of TPF complicated by ACS. Additionally, we analyzed factors associated with complications arising from these procedures.

Opportunities exist to provide high-quality breast imaging fellowship training in the community setting. Various challenges exist, however, including obtaining funding for a fellowship position, creating an educational curriculum in a potentially nonacademic environment, and developing an overall competitive program that will attract radiology trainees. Here, we explore factors that contribute to the establishment of an academic breast imaging fellowship program in the community setting based on experience, including (1) providing guidance on how to secure funding for a breast imaging fellowship position; (2) developing a training curriculum based on established guidelines from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education, American College of Radiology, and Society of Breast Imaging; and (3) navigating the landscape of the recruitment process, from program branding to matching applicants.

Introduction: Symptomatic interlocking screws are common after intramedullary nail fixation of tibia fractures. Low-profile headless interlocking screws recently became available and could potentially reduce the rate of symptomatic screws. The purpose of this study was to compare the rate of symptomatic screws and screw removals between these screw types.

Nutrition plays an integral role in the management of patients with enterocutaneous fistula (ECF), but practice guidelines are often vague because of limited evidence. As a result, clinicians must rely on expert consensus and sound nutrition principles to guide practice. The initial phase of ECF management involves recognition (eg, fistula location and quantifying output) and stabilization (eg, source control and fluid and electrolyte balance).

Background: Myotonic dystrophy type 1 (DM1) is associated with progressive conduction disease. Furthermore, DM1 patients are at risk ventricular arrhythmias (VAs), although prediction remains difficult. The 2022 Heart Rhythm Expert Consensus Statement gives a IIb recommendation to the use of electrophysiology study (EPS) to risk-stratify patients for VAs.

The neonatal Fc receptor (FcRn) was initially discovered as the receptor that allowed passive immunity in newborns by transporting maternal IgG through the placenta and enterocytes. Since its initial discovery, FcRn has been found to exist throughout all stages of life and in many different cell types. Beyond passive immunity, FcRn is necessary for intrinsic albumin and IgG recycling and is important for antigen processing and presentation.

Objective: To introduce New2Neuropsychology (N2N), an organization that seeks to increase recruitment of historically underrepresented minoritized (URM) students, and to examine preliminary data on N2N's impact and effectiveness in increasing knowledge about neuropsychology for URM students.
Method: This paper reviews relevant literature on factors informing the development of N2N. We also present descriptive data on N2N's impact to date, and results of pre- and post- surveys for presentations about neuropsychology delivered to 90 college students (mean age = 24.
