The formation of Lewy bodies (LB) is a pathological hallmark for synucleinopathies, which is an umbrella term for many diseases, including Parkinson's disease, Lewy body dementia, and multiple system atrophy. One of the main components of LB is the aggregates of phosphorylated modification of α-Synuclein at residue 129 (αS-129), a neuronal protein expressed in the dopaminergic neurons in the brain. There are equivocal results about the role of αS-129, suggesting its involvement in both potentiating pathology and a functional role to rescue pathology.

Granulomas, organized aggregates of immune cells which form in response to (), are characteristic but not exclusive of tuberculosis (TB). Despite existing investigations on TB granulomas, the determinants that differentiate host-protective granulomas from granulomas that contribute to TB pathogenesis are often disputed. Thus, the goal of this narrative review is to help clarify the existing literature on such determinants.

Integrating community perceptions into One Health assessments is critical to understanding the structural barriers that create disproportionate health outcomes for community members, their pets, and the ecosystems that encompass them, particularly in historically marginalized and under-resourced communities. The validated One Health Community Assessment (OHCA) survey instrument was used to evaluate the associated impacts of The Humane Society of the United States' Pets for Life (PFL) programming on communities' perceptions of One Health. This evaluation took place across two phases, totaling four years.

Biological fluids are proteinaceous liquids or suspensions released through different body orifices or through penetration of the skin. These fluids are the result of multiple tissues and cell types and contain extensive, highly complex, and dynamic protein populations that reflect both the transcriptional program of the originating cells and a record of the individual's health status. Body fluids are readily accessible to clinicians and researchers, and as such proteomic analyses are an important component of clinical studies, fertility studies, oral health studies, and forensic investigations.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFLymph node (LN) lymphatic endothelial cells (LEC) actively acquire and archive foreign antigens. Here, we address questions of how LECs achieve durable antigen archiving and whether LECs with high levels of antigen express unique transcriptional programs. We used single cell sequencing in dissociated LN tissue and spatial transcriptomics to quantify antigen levels in LEC subsets and dendritic cell populations at multiple time points after immunization and determined that ceiling and floor LECs archive antigen for the longest duration.

When determining eligibility for OAC, guidelines recommend calculation of thromboembolic event rates using a validated score such as CHA2DS2-VASc. In contrast, routine calculation of bleeding scores is not recommended, in part because many patient factors associated with an increased risk of bleeding are associated with an even larger increased risk of ischemic stroke.
