Invasive mechanical ventilation strategies, adjuvants treatments and adverse events among ICU patients with COVID-19 in Denmark.

Aim: To describe the use of invasive mechanical ventilation core strategies, adjuvant treatments and the occurrence of barotrauma and prolonged ventilation in ICU patients with COVID-19 in Denmark, retrospectively.

Methods: All ICUs admitting COVID-19 patients in Denmark from 10 March 2020 to 2 April 2021 were invited to participate. All patients with COVID-19 who received invasive mechanical ventilation were included and data was retrospectively collected from electronic patient records.

Telemedicine emerged as an important tool to reduce disease transmission risks, maintain continuity of care, and improve accessibility. This study explores temporary measures during the pandemic as well as challenges and facilitators for integrating telemedicine into the European healthcare landscape in five case countries, focusing on cancer care.

Human ovarian tissue xenotransplantation: advancements, challenges, and future perspectives.

Ovarian tissue cryopreservation and transplantation has emerged as a promising fertility preservation technique for individuals facing premature ovarian insufficiency due to various medical conditions or treatments. Xenotransplantation, involving the transplantation of ovarian tissue into animal hosts, has played a pivotal role in refining ovarian tissue cryopreservation and transplantation techniques and addressing key challenges. This review provides a comprehensive overview of the current landscape of ovarian tissue xenotransplantation research, focusing on its applications in investigating ovarian biology, optimizing ovarian tissue cryopreservation and transplantation protocols, and assessing safety concerns.

Infants admitted to Danish neonatal units demonstrate satisfactory growth independent of feeding type at discharge.

Aim: The aim was to investigate feeding type at discharge; exclusively breastfeeding (EBF), mixed breastfeeding (MBF), and formula milk feeding (FMF), factors associated with feeding type, and changes in weight-for-age z-score (ΔWAZ) in infants admitted to Danish neonatal units.

Methods: Using data from the Danish National Quality Database for Births and the Danish Newborn Quality Database, we included 8639 mother-infant dyads admitted ≥5 days between February 2019 and December 2021. We used logistic regression to investigate associations between maternal and infant factors and feeding type, and descriptive statistics to describe ΔWAZ and feeding type at discharge.

Phenotype Spectrum of TRPM3-Associated Disorders.

Objective: Monoallelic variants in the transient receptor potential melastatin-related type 3 gene (TRPM3) have been associated with neurodevelopmental manifestations, but knowledge on the clinical manifestations and treatment options is limited. Introduction: Even though Denmark has the highest contraceptive use (42%) of the Nordic countries, 19% of all pregnancies in Denmark end in termination. Various contraceptive options are available, and unwanted pregnancies therefore ought to be avoidable. This study aimed to investigate if women received counselling and prescriptions for contraception during their termination and if this or other factors impacted their risk of repeat termination.

Compliance with endocrine therapy among breast cancer survivors.

Introduction: Most postmenopausal women with early-stage oestrogen receptor-positive breast cancer are allocated to five years of endocrine therapy. This treatment is not without adverse effects, which may lead to treatment discontinuation. This study aimed to assess compliance with endocrine therapy among postmenopausal women with early-stage oestrogen receptor-positive breast cancer and examine its association with disease-free survival.

A novel acute basic palliation concept for patients without specialised palliative needs.

Introduction: Among all Danish dying patients, 80% rely on non-specialised palliative care, an area lacking national and international guidelines. In this pilot study, we developed and tested an acute basic palliation concept (ABPC), a structured end-of-life (EOL) care plan for patients discharged from the emergency department to die at home compared with standard care.

Introduction: While diagnosis rates of autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) vary within countries at a large-scale municipal level, small neighbourhood geographic variation remains understudied. In this nationwide study, we describe the rates of ASD and ADHD diagnoses in children and adults by geographical data zones of approximately 2,500 residents across Denmark.

Methods: We included a population of children born from 1993 through 2020 and an adult population born from 1977 through 2003.

Introduction: Shared decision-making (SDM) enables individually tailored treatment plans. This survey explored patients' and surgeons' perceptions of SDM in consultations on thyroid nodules. Furthermore, we aimed to explore possible discrepancies between the groups, identify factors influencing patients' perceived levels of SDM and evaluate decisional regret.

A number of studies have tested the factor structure of the suggested ICD-11 symptom criteria for PTSD and complex PTSD (CPTSD) across various trauma populations, finding support for two different models in line with the ICD-11 theoretical rationale. Mind the Gap: A Neural Network Framework for Imputing Genotypes in Non-Model Species.

Reduced representation sequencing (RRS) has proven to be a cost-effective solution for sequencing subsets of the genome in non-model species for large-scale studies. However, the targeted nature of RRS approaches commonly introduces large amounts of missing data, leading to reduced statistical power and biased estimates in downstream analyses. Background: The cornerstone of low anterior resection syndrome (LARS) treatment is self-management, which requires patient engagement. Colorectal surgeons and nurses may use patient-generated health data (PGHD) to help guide patients in their use of self-management strategies for LARS. However, the perspectives of LARS experts on the use of PGHD remain largely unexplored.
